Answered phones, dispatched police officers over the radio,
kept logs, filed warrants, and other papers, entered warrants
and stolen property on the computer, watched over inmates
when in jail, fed inmates when needed, & filed paperwork for
the city clerk when needed. I left this job to move to
Montgomery, Al. I had comp time built up and collected it
from April thru July of 2007 while driving for PTI.

Had a post at a chemical plant in Axis, Al. Worked at the
front gate checking and inspecting cars and trucks in and
out of the plant. Answered phones, transfered calls to other
departments, kept logs, walked rounds of three buildings
and grounds every two hours. Operated a computer that
opened and locked doors in the buildings. I liked the security
job very much, I was still employed part time with the police
dept. and the chief offered me a raise, full time, and pick my
own hours and days if I would leave the security job.
Foster Parent
2/1990 - 10/2002 Dept. of Children & Family Services,
Rock Island, Ill.
Took care of children that were placed in my home by
DCFS. Transported children to school, doctors appt.,
visits with parents, counseling, school events. Kept
records of allowances and how was spent, clothing
allowance for each child on paper and on the computer
I was a foster parent for 12 years and had 17 different
children during that time. I gave up my foster care
license when I moved to Alabama.
Machine operator, assembler, spot welder
1/1986 - 10/1994 Keller Ladder, Muscatine, Iowa
Worked on the aluminum extension ladder line. Ran a
cut off saw that would cut metal rungs to length for the
ladders. Operated a rung machine that formed the rungs.
Assembled the ladders to get ready for the swedger.
Operated the swedger machine that would swedge the
rungs on the ladder so they would not come apart.
Operated a spot welder making the tips of the ladders
and brackets for assembly. Also worked on the bath
line assembling shower doors and packing them getting
them ready for shipping. Worked at times in the stock
room. Kept inventory of parts that would come into the
plant and fill orders out of the stock room for the
departments. Worked there until Keller Ladder closed
the plant and moved to the east.
Clerk, pizza maker
11/1984 - 1/1986 Casey's Convinence Store, Keithsburg, Ill.
Made pizzas that people would call in and order, answered
phones, made pizza dough, prep the table with pizza
ingredients for the shift, fold boxes, and did clean up.
Would also make doughnuts three mornings a week.
Would work on the cash register when needed. Cleaned
and faced shelves when time allowed, stocked the cooler.
This was just a part-time job with no benefits. I went full
time at Keller Ladder from here.
Chief cook, operator
9/1978 - 5/1980 Maroa Cafe, Maroa, Ill.
Operated a small cafe and game room in Maroa, Ill.
Consisted of managing cooks, waitresses, and
dishwasher. I would help out short order cooking, making
homemade pies, preparing meals for customers, ordering
groceries, planning menus. Managed the bank account
and payroll and books. The kids in Maroa didn't have any
thing to do or a place to go. I started the game room and
then the city wanted a cafe too. We also started having
Bingo for the senior citizens one day a week. I sold the
inventory and moved to Keithsburg, Ill. in May of 1980.
The cafe and game room stayed in operation until fall of
2007 when it burnt. The building and fixtures belonged to
to the city and had sat idol for several years until I wanted
some place foe the kids. After the game room was open.
crime dropped almost half. It also gave teens work
experience too.

3/1973 - 9/1976 Bear Manuf. Rock Island, Ill.
Ran a drill press drilling and boring precise holes in
castings, worked in the stock room filling orders for depts.,
for shipping, keeping track of inventory. Also did assembly
work in different departments.

2/1967 - 5/1968 Hart, Schaffner & Marx, Rock Island, Ill.
Matched plaids and stripes of sleeves and jackets of mens
sports jackets. Ran a sewing machine jacket side seams
and sleeve seams.
