May 2008 - January 2010 Director of Fleet Desoto, TX

I oversaw a recruitment advertising budget of $500,000 annually which was designed to attract our key

demographic through effective advertising campaigns in magazines, newspaper, other print media,

internet/search optimization, and public relations. I was responsible for a staff of 3-6 individuals

(recruiters) who’d work in a basic call center set up to qualify, sell and close on prospective candidates.

As in customary in this transportation industry, fleet turnover was exceedingly high ensuring that we’d

need to recruiting a minimum of 500 DOT qualified individuals per year to stay at current fleet levels.

On August 17, 2009 Pacer Transport was purchased by Universal Am-Can, Ltd. from Pacer International.

At the time of the sale fleet size was 618 owner operated units and the 98 company owned units. This

additional gain in fleet size attributed to an additional $23.76 million in annual projected revenue prior to

the purchase.

After the sale my responsibility was to convert all recruiting to Universal Am-Can, and oversee the

creation of a similar recruitment process for Universal in their Warren, MI offices. I relocated to Warren,

MI an hired, trained and developed the talents of 8 individuals to expand the fleet 1200 owner operated

units, including my eventual successor.

and for 2008 total revenues exceeded $6.1 million.

This was accomplished both by the act of picking up additional clients, but also improving on the client

services once clients were secured. I was responsible for having all sales people actually be the

interactive representative with the clients they’d secured. This included public relations, developing

weekly, monthly and yearly advertising plans, and improving the profit margins on additional services we

could provide.

Skills

Work Ethic: I am extremely passionate about whatever I set my mind to in life and professionally. This

would most likely be my strongest asset I bring to any organization. This drive and effort has helped to

overcome multiple challenges and in my view makes no endeavor insurmountable.

Leadership: Leadership is definitely not established by just a title or a name plate in a corner office. One

of my biggest attributes has been my ability to take a diverse work force with different views and opinions

and get everyone to believe in the same goals and ways to accomplish those. At times it has involved

taking control of a situation and pushing others around me, or at other times stepping back and letting

other peoples talents and skills shine in order to reach an objective. A quality leader has to be able to

know what is called for in each situation to get the very most out of the people and tools that have been

provided.

Adaptation: In each of my positions the companies had different mind sets, or the business environment

changed rapidly. I have a proven track record of adapting to meet those changes in order to help my

employer, superiors, and direct reports grow with me to meet those challenges head on.

I am experienced with all Microsoft programs. I.e. Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, etc. I’m also

experienced with Quicken, Adobe, and many other technical applications.

Objectives

I’m looking for a company that I can find a long term career path with. A company that is financially stable

has a growth mindset and a company that has the ability to adapt to the future business environments

that might come down the road.

I’m open to virtually any industry, location, or work environment as long as I’m never asked to do anything

either unethical or illegal. I like a work place that fosters creativity, and has a diverse workforce.

Though financial consideration plays a role in a career path I’d like a challenge and a position that will test

me on a continuous basis. I’m open to relocation.
