DOROTHY KEIKO KAGEHIRO
Arlington, VA 22201
abl9vc@r.postjobfree.com
Research psychologist with expertise in focus group studies and surveys;
questionnaire construction to assess individuals' perceptions, attitudes,
and life experiences regarding a wide range of subject matter. Long
history of publications and oral presentations.
Seeking an opportunity to study decision-making, problem-solving, and risk
assessment in applied settings.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Research Design & Implementation
o Initiated marketing surveys to assess public perceptions and opinions on
the "next big things" in litigation (e.g., backdating stock options;
subprime mortgages; persistent, bioaccumulative, toxic substances or
PBTs). Results: marketing "slicks" distributed by Business Development
Group to all jury consultants; national and regional media clips; 95 case
leads; two CLE presentations; graphics and jury research work generated
for Chicago, Miami, and New York offices; keynote address at Mealey's
Subprime Mortgage Litigation & Insurance Coverage Conference, Washington,
DC, June 2008.
o Explored innovations in research by designing and conducting online
survey. Result: in-house white paper comparing results of surveys
conducted via traditional landline phone versus online and published
article (see Selected Publication #2).
o Conducted research projects on limited budgets (< $100K) as part of
multidisciplinary teams of 3-8 staff members, plus 1-3 subcontractors.
o Questionnaire construction based on review and "lay translation" of legal
briefs, experts' affidavits, and depositions.
Data Analysis
o Co-developed innovative statistical analysis of corporate clients'
financial risk. Purpose: to attract insurance company clients
(typically from risk management departments) considering whether to
settle their cases or go to trial; financial risk analysis provided them
with means of assessing likely damages award if they proceeded to trial
and gave them a basis for concluding whether a settlement offer could be
considered "good" or "bad." Results: created another research offering
and published article co-authored with former client (insurance risk
manager) (see Selected Publication #7).
o Handled qualitative data (content analysis of written and oral responses)
and quantitative data (SPSS, chi-squared to logistic regression).
Writing
o Published 16 articles in law periodicals.
o Published 24 articles in psychology journals.
o Write-up of research findings under short-lead, quick turnaround
conditions.
Oral Presentations
o 35 presentations at psychology conferences.
o 5 presentations at law conferences and meetings.
