labeled shelves and bins, designed kanban systems, specified and ordered
tools and equipment, collaborated with Machine Shop to create custom
tools and fixtures needed.
. Requested product design enhancements during the field trial stage of
development to improve manufacturability.
. Facilitated weekly cross-functional meetings with 20 people from
Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing.
. Led weekly meetings to create K5 value stream map, decide layout and
product flow, takt and cycle times, and kanbans.
. Resolved issues with vendors of rotational and vacuum form molded parts
for new cabinet softeners.
Capital Improvement Projects
. Building 1: Designed AutoCAD layouts and worked with Maintenance and
contractors to build a new Quality Assurance Lab, enlarge the Machine
Shop and improve the flow of molds needing repair and cleaning through
the Machine Shop.
. Building 2: Designed AutoCAD layouts and worked with Maintenance and
contractors to add two dock doors, move finished product opposite the
dock, move resin storage behind the filling machines to not disrupt
production, and improve the flow of softener valves from inventory as
molded parts through assembly, wet test and final assembly as softeners.
Ergonomic Projects
. Developed new procedure with telescoping boxes for Final Assembly to
eliminate 50 lb repetitive 20 inch high lift.
. Specified motorized height benches and conveyors for injection molding
department to minimize bending and reaching.
. Configured packaging benches for UPS department to keep common boxes
within easy reach and reduce walking.
. Purchased adjustable stools for 60 production employees in Molding,
Drinking Water and Softener Valve Assembly.
. Initiated design of automated machine to eliminate twisting wrists while
hand siliconing 1200 pistons per day.
Training
. Supervised and mentored a co-op student for 4 years designing tools,
fixtures and manufacturing equipment.
. Trained 50 production employees to understand basic Ergonomic principles
to be able to contribute improvement ideas.
. Trained and mentored 40 new 5S leaders over 6 years to conduct quarterly
