RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, Tampa, FL
Statistical Data Analyst/Research Intern - Biostatistics Core
June 2009 to present
. The project tried to determine if a new treatment significantly
improves patients' status in comparison with the control. It was
postponed for 6 months due to short hand in biostatistics core. After
thoroughly discussed with faculty biostatistician and physician about
how the protocol was designed, the project goal and the data status
and limitation, along with heavy graduate study workload,
independently selected statistical method and conducted the actual
analysis by using linear mixed model and generalized linear model.
. Applied SAS program to clean, manipulate, extract healthcare data.
Created analytical datasets from data sources to develop variables for
modeling. Responsible for project program coding, program validation,
documentation and tables. Interpreted the statistical outputs,
prepared the written reports and wrote the manuscript for
publications. Both physician and supervisor very appreciated my
excellent timely hard work and promised future awards, including my
name to be listed as third author in the publication.

. Bayesian Analysis of Steady-State Kinetics of 5-Aminolevulinate
Synthase. Computation of kinetics parameters is crucial for
understanding the mechanism of human diseases. The data were collected
from my designed biochemical experiments. Through transformation of
the data, used multiple linear regression model to estimate the
kinetic parameters, which is consistent with the previously published
ones fitted by the nonlinear model. Further, after the posterior
distribution is constructed, simulated the kinetic parameters, which
are exactly in agreement with our previous results, and model
checking indicated that the model is consistent with the dataset.
. Analysis of Secondary Outcomes of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder (ADHD) Intervention by Multivariate Generalized Linear Model.
The longitudinal data were collected by clinic physicians, who tried
to find new affordable method to improve daily life of the children
with ADHD. The trial consists of two groups, video-conference and
face-to-face. First, imported data from Excel; second, cleaned data,
checked data for outlier; third, tested sample data possible
distributions and selected analytical method and model to deal with
missing data; finally, explained SAS output, wrote final report and
discussed the result limitation.
. Multivariate Regression Analysis of Primary and Secondary Outcomes of
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Intervention.
Obviously, this project focused on the primary outcome. Unlike above
project, the primary data consist of the pre-treatment and post-
treatment. By using multivariate regression analysis, statistically
distinguished the difference of two groups of children with ADHD in
both pre-treatment and post-treatment. In this study, tried several
covariance structures to cope with data correlation and chose the
best.
. Imported SAS data from a variety of sources using SAS code and
exported SAS data to various targets using SAS code. All projects were
done by using SAS base, SAS macro, SAS SQL and SPLUS/R.
University of South Florida, and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research
Institute, Tampa, FL 1999 - 2006
Research Associate - Dept of Pathology & Cell Biology, and Dept of
Molecular Oncology
. Planned and conducted experiments, designed experimental device,
collected and analyzed data on the basis of biomedical and statistical
principles.
. Developed, optimized and modified several biochemical protocols. Six
peer-reviewed articles were published in top American life science
journals. Gave two presentations in the national biomedical field
conferences. As a key member in a NIH-funded laboratory for 5 years.
. Used linear models and nonlinear models for the regression of reaction
data. Furthermore, predicted and stimulated the reaction mechanism.
Interpreted the reaction mechanisms by applying biochemical and
statistical principles.
Chinese Academy of Sciences, Qingdao, China
1991 - 1994
Research Associate - Institute of Oceanography
. Collected, documented, verified, maintained a decade of Jiaozhou bay
nutrients data, and then analyzed the data by using Microsoft Excel.
This was the first time to use statistical principle and method to
analysis nutrients ratio since this national project had begun. The
discovery of dynamic trend of nutrients structure deeply affected the
national coast ecology policy.
. Two original research papers were published in top Chinese science
journals.
