Web/Business Intelligence Developer 2009 - 2010

Developed and maintained web-enabled circulation management reporting using

HTML, JavaScript, CSS, XML and WebFOCUS tools.

. Developed a new class of web based business intelligence reports for

clients by utilizing WebFOCUS Business Intelligence and custom Data

Marts in providing clients with rich interactive reporting including

3D charts, drill down, summarization, categorization and sorting of

their circulation data resulting in positive feedback and rapid

adoption by clients.

. Developed custom Javascript and utilized 3rd party Javascript

libraries to greatly enhance the richness of the report input forms,

preemptively catch user input errors, and dynamically generate

graphics and charts, allowing clients to quickly visualize trends that

would be very difficult to determine by looking at the data alone.

Sr. Project Manager 2004 - 2009

Accountable for accomplishing the stated objectives for many strategic IT

projects at CDS. Key responsibilities included creating clear and

attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and

managing the triple constraints for projects, which are cost, time, and

quality (also known as scope).

. Developed and presented a proposal to senior leaders for the migration

of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist" that included 57 magazines,

products and web stores resulting in winning the fulfillment business

with a significant increase in revenue.

. Led a two-year project to convert a mainframe BUNDL reporting solution

to IBM's Content Manager On Demand (CMOD). Completing the project

required overcoming many obstacles such as dwindling mainframe

resources and complex integration requirements. The project was

successfully completed resulting in significant savings in paper and

printing costs and provided clients with more timely and convenient

reports.

. Managed conversion of WebMD's client data acquisition and custom

printing processes to CDS Global resulting in successful completion of

the project within a strict deadline of four months. Many of the

WebMD's processes were streamlined, reducing complexity and increasing

profitability.

. Oversaw, coordinated and implemented a secure file transfer project by

developing business justification, definition of core requirements,

evaluating and recommending Enhanced File Transfer (EFT) vendors,

selecting software, elaborating the transfer engine design based upon

the known requirements resulting in providing secure file transfer to

hundreds of clients and partners.

2001 - 2004

Interfacing with the user(s) and sponsor(s) and all others takeholders in

order to determine their evolving needs. Generating the highest level of

system requirements, based on the user's needs and other constraints such

as cost and schedule. Ensuring that this set of high level requirements is

consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined. Design

programming solutions using the Unified Modeling Language (UML).

. Led the development of an on-line application for clients to prepare

and maintain the information necessary to carry out mailing plans for

subscription billing and renewal notices (MAPP). The solution was

developed utilizing a J2EE environment (Websphere) using Java.

Approximately 70% of my time on this project was devoted to hands on

programming.

. Developed a real-time monitoring application using C# to monitor the

various working parts of the MAPP application.

. Designed and developed an application to front end a Great Plains

accounting system. The "iVault" application was developed using

VB.Net.

. Utilized C# and open source encryption libraries (Bouncy Castle) to

develop a message based encryption scheme in accordance with

Publisher's Clearing House requirements.

1994 - 2000

The world's largest consumer electronics retailer with a 21% share of the

U.S. Electronics market.

Technical Manager / Lead Architect 1997 - 2000

Designed and coordinated the development of Best Buy's e-commerce site

(first year budget of $20 million dollars). Key design provisions were

that the site needed to be robust, highly scalable, and capable of

supporting multiple product lines. Reported to the Vice President of E-

commerce.

. Developed a proposal for the e-commerce site which included high level

designs, hosting options, hardware platform, system software and

development tools. The proposal was accepted by senior management

over other competing proposals and the project was formally initiated.

. Partnered with staff as well as IXL, Sapient, and Microsoft

consultants to build and deploy the e-commerce site including

supporting infrastructure for development and quality assurance

environments. The site was successfully deployed within budget and

within the aggressive one year schedule.

. Led many subsequent 12 week development sprints to add capabilities

and support for additional product lines. Some examples include

enhancing credit authorization, integrating advanced search engine

capabilities, integrating personalization engine, integrating 3rd

party product description data, adding support for in-store pickups.

Lead Developer 1994 - 1997

Responsible for design, development, testing, and deployment for a number

of research and development projects. Reported to the Director of Research

and Development.

. Collaborated with Compaq to develop a cutting edge program to enable

the customer to order customized personal computer configurations by

using a web based kiosk ("Configure To Order Kiosk").

. Led development on a video kiosk project ("Answer Center Kiosk") to

deliver information and educate customers and staff on products and

services. Nominated for a Computerworld Smithsonian Award and

featured in worldwide broadcasts of Microsoft's Developer Conference.
