Recruited by this project-based professional services firm that provides
services in finance, accounting, human resources and information
technology, I provided consulting expertise for a wide-range of clients.
The following is a sample of my successfully completed projects:
Fifth Third Bank - Procedures Analyst, Fixed Assets
Designed, tested and implemented a tax roll-forward and reconciliation
process between the General Ledger and the Fixed Asset system ($1.8
Billion). The reconciliation uses Hyperion Retrieve and reports from
the GEAC system (FA) and reconciles the gain and loss account in the
General Ledger.
First Student - Procedures Analyst, Fixed Assets
Analyzed and correctly classified $11 million worth of
"unidentified fixed assets" and designed a uniform purchasing
procedure and software to track and protect company assets and to
correctly capitalize and expense items.
National Credit Card company
As the acting Finance Manager, I was contracted to bring
their financial statements up to date, which
was 7 months in arrears. Additionally, their method of
accounting, the installation and implementation
of new accounting software (Peachtree). The accounting software
replaced Excel as their primary
method of accounting. Project was completed in time allotted.
Cincinnati area distributor
Part of Sarbanes-Oxley audit team. My area of responsibilities:
revenue recognitions, inventory, and fixed assets. After audit
revue, implemented inventory control procedures along GAAP guidelines.
Installed Fixed Asset module into accounting software (SAP). Trained
personnel in proper maintenance of Fixed Asset program.
Cincinnati area Food Bottling Company
Acting Accounting Manager/Controller for the $2MM bottling company.
Responsible for all accounting transactions, including payroll
preparation. Prepared all financial reports.
INR Energy, LLC
Financial and Accounting Consultant
New fully funded energy company whose goal is to purchase and operate
coal and gas mines. Brought in to:
- Monitor transition of assets and purchases of first coal mine
acquisition in West Virginia.
- Installed accounting software, and trained personnel in use of
software.
- Participated in Due Diligence for future acquisitions.
- Monitor Accounts Payable during transfer of assets and acquisition
process.
It should be noted, that every project that I have been assigned, has been
completed on or before the projected time of completion.
At Home Network Solutions, Inc. 1999 - 2001
Finance Manager/Controller
Chosen by one of the nation's largest Internet Service Providers to smaller
markets to manage the accounting staff; supervise accounting functions;
prepare budgets and financial reports; analyze financial data; support
external auditors and assist in strategic planning, implementation of
marketing decisions, sales forecasting and presentation of financial
information to the Board of Directors. Credited with improving bottom line
net income by $1 million per month by transferring $26 million, of the $40
million of cash reserves in a money market account, into corporate paper
and spreading out the maturity of the notes over a 90-day period with 30%
always maturing within the current period; investment generated over a
million dollars of interest income monthly, increasing operating capital in
reserve with no loss of operational flexibility .
Woodstock's Enterprises -Controller 1998 - 1999
Challenged by a $7 million, five-location family owned restaurant chain,
operating under five federal identification numbers with 450 employees, to
manage all payroll and tax functions, maintain checking accounts, provide
financial statements and management reports and introduce expertise in the
income, expense and asset management functions. Reduced credit card
processing fees $60,000 annually by changing the processing company to a
provider with comparable service and reduced rates.
. Decreased the weekly payroll process by 67%, from 12 man-hours to four,
by replacing hand-written time sheets received by fax from locations
with protected-formula-field templates completed by store managers and
e-mailed to corporate, enabling information to be cut and pasted into
the payroll program.
. Improved expense control by providing a checking account for each
remote location, with limited funds, that eliminated cash payouts and
dramatically enhanced the audit trail.
. Designed a Daily Cash Position report after completing two years of
neglected bank reconciliation's, giving the company flexibility in
operations through better information on liquidity and working capital.
