RTP Winona
Description: The project sponsored by RTP Company of Winona MN was geared
at comparing the mechanical properties of injection molded reinforced
plastic parts with predictions from simulations from the moldflow software.
Some extensive microscopy work was done so as to compare the fiber
orientation in the molded part with these simulations. I led a team of
three that performed the research and the outcome saved this company a lot
of time in their production process.
Roles and Responsibilities:
> Produced parts using injection molding process
> Selected appropriate material for process based on properties
> Set up for injection molding process
> Used moldflow software to model material behavior
> Mechanical testing of produced parts
> Employed advanced microscopy technique
> Prepared weekly summary report on process advancement.
