Work Experience and Projects
Center for Robotics Research, University of Cincinnati (June 2007 -
Present)
Graduate Researcher
. Setup of electrical hardware in Electric Robot Jeep including wiring and
testing of electrical components.
. Developed the control software for Autonomous Robotic Vehicles using
Matlab and C++.
. Interfacing with SICK Laser proximity sensor, GPS, digital compass and
cameras.
. Path planning done using Image Processing and obstacle avoidance.
. Controlled vehicle's motion by motion controller, digital servo motor
systems and differential steering.
Projects as a Mechanical Engineering Student (Sep 2006 - June 2009)
. Performance analysis and failure prediction was done on a General Motors
axil speed sensor. Signals from the sensor were analyzed using LabView
and Matlab. Variations in performance caused due to sensor failures and
adverse conditions were used to create a pre-failure warning system.
. Designed and modeled an RPP cylindrical robotic arm for applications in
the food industry. Image processing program created using Matlab.
. Programmed PLCs to control a multi-pallet production line. Conveyor
control, station-transfer and multiple drilling operations were done
autonomously utilizing pallet recognition.
. Programmed an 8-bit processor using binary machine codes to perform
arithmetic operations
. Completed a New Product Development cycle for a food processor
implementing DFM/DFA.
Bharath Heavy Electricals Limited, Trichy, India (Dec 2004 - Feb 2005)
Engineering Intern
. Designed a hydraulic clamp for aligning and holding 10" diameter high
pressure pipes while they were machined by a band saw machine. 3D CAD
modeling, stress analysis and validation were done using CATIA.
. Completed a hands-on training course on various machines and processes
involved in manufacturing high pressure boiler systems.
Faculty Training and Resource Center (FTRC), University of Cincinnati
(June 2007 - Present)
Documentation and Support Consultant
. Creating and editing manuals and guides for instructors in the use of
Blackboard, the University's online academic portal, and the center's
multimedia equipment.
. Guiding and trouble-shooting Blackboard-related issues for students and
instructors in person and over the phone.
. Conducting one-on-one training sessions with University Instructors and
Professors.

Thesis
Intelligent control software has been developed using Matlab to navigate an
autonomous mobile robot through an obstacle course. Lane detection is done
using image processing and obstacle detection is done using SICK laser
scanner proximity readings. The lane and obstacle locations are used to
form a virtual environment and a suitable heading is calculated. Multiple
methods and algorithms have been developed, tested and compared.
