Project Engineer

Primary Responsibilities Included:

. Design and build of equipment based on a sales proposal and

budget.

. Provide engineering calculations in support of the design.

. Produce complete general arrangement and detail drawings of

the final design.

. Determine all commercial and manufactured part specifications.

. Provide complete documentation (manual) for the equipment.

. Provide support for the manufacturing and assemble of the

equipment.

. Provide site support and/or commissioning of the equipment

Recent Projects:

. Design and build two slag plow cars for a furnace shop. Cars

were remote controlled and eliminated the need for an operator

to clear the slag door using a forklift and boom while the

furnace was running. Cars used hydraulics to extend and tilt a

boom into the slag door of the furnace to clear out a path for

the slag to pour off the melt.

. Design and build a set of centering side guides for a hot

rolling mill. The side guides were replacements for existing

guides that continually experienced breakdowns. The side

guides completely eliminated any break downs.

. Design and build a charger for a reheat furnace. The chargers

function is to lift a steel slab weighting up to 30T and place

it in a reheat furnace. The charger hydraulically lifted the

slabs and electrically traversed the slabs into the furnace.

. Installation, debug and release of new production equipment &

tooling.

. Direct engineering support of manufacturing equipment &

tooling.

. Defining planned maintenance procedures for the manufacturing

equipment & tooling.

. Design, build & implement equipment & tooling improvements

related to process capability, production capacity, quality

improvement, scrap reduction and model change requirements.

. Create and maintain accurate equipment & tooling drawing files

and revision documentation.

. Oversee and coordinate the daily activities and training of up

to 6 plant support technicians.

Projects:

. Developed, designed and built a low volume assembly line to

produce past-model service parts originally produced on 21

different high-volume production lines.

. Retooled an idled assembly line to provide addition capacity

for a high volume assembly line in order to eliminate the high

burden cost associated with the need to run a 2 rd & 3rd

shift production crews on the one line.

. Developed, designed and implemented a product verification

system on 20 high volume production lines to address a

recurring quality problem that could result in intermittent

electrical failures at the vehicle assembly plant. System was

designed to have minimum impact on the production throughput

of each line.
