Gentlemen:
I am writing to apply for a position in your organization as a Quality
Engineer. I believe I have the education, experience and problem solving
abilities to make a valuable contribution to your team.
I am an American Society for Quality Certified Quality Engineer and have
led tier I and II automotive molding quality and continuous improvement
initiatives leading to quality system and laboratory accreditation, as well
as significant process improvements in production, office, and warehouse
environments.
I have 10 years of process improvement experience with injection /
injection-compression / transfer / compression molding of thermosets and
thermoplastics using RJG ejector pin pressure sensors to control injection
/ holding pressure. I have performed statistical analysis of product /
process / tooling to achieve continuous improvements on tolerances as small
as 0.001" resulting in Cpk's as high as 2.50 over 64 cavity molds. I also
have experience with the painting and assembly of these plastic components
in to larger, more complex assemblies. I have 2 years medical
manufacturing quality experience.
My real world six sigma continuous improvement projects have been approved
by the American Society for Quality and I have been approved to take the
CSSBB Exam October 2, 2010 through the Grand Rapids Section 1001 of the ASQ
to become a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
I am an Excel and Word 2007 Certified Microsoft Application Specialist and
an Excel 2003 Certified Microsoft Office Specialist.
I have also completed American Collegiate Testing (ACT) WorkKeys testing to
achieve a Gold National Career Readiness Certificate. The Gold Certificate
means I am intellectually capable of 90% of careers ACT has listed. Refer
to www.act.org/certificate/faq.html. My scores are as follows:
7 - Reading for Information
5 - Locating Information
6 - Applied Mathematics
5 - Applied Technology
4 - Teamwork
5 - Observation
Additionally, I have real world experience in both Six Sigma and Lean, long
before they came into vogue. I am currently upgrading this experience
through additional education through the University of Michigan. I
anticipate completing the Lean Six Sigma: Manufacturing Focus program by
September 1, 2010 using MiniTab software for statistical data analysis. I
also have extensive experience using Statgraphics to do statistical
analysis of data. As you know, Statgraphics and Minitab are two of the
best and most commonly used, software programs for statistical analysis on
the market today. As a result of my engineering education, I was
regularly using many of the statistical techniques now embodied in six
sigma to reduce process variation. This was before six sigma techniques
and methodology were widely popularized in the late 1990's, after Motorola
initially won the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award in 1988.
I also have experience with the General Motors version of Lean or
TPS(Toyota Production System) when it was called Synchronous Manufacturing.
Although the tendency, until recently, has been to apply these concepts
only to the production floor, I have achieved dramatic productivity gains
in office and warehouse environments as well. By applying these
principles company wide, it is possible to achieve a synergy which leads to
greater gains as the business is transformed into a learning organization.
I look forward to meeting with you soon, so we may discuss how I may be of
benefit to your operations team as a Quality Engineer.
Sincerely,
Roger Wilson
