Career Synopsis
Experienced environmental engineer with expertise in permitting, regulatory
review and environmental design criteria for various chemical and
petrochemical manufacturing and refining industries. Also worked on the
treatment of groundwater contaminated with chlorinated compounds using
nanotechnology, and knowledgeable in the treatment of enteric viruses in
drinking water samples.

Education
University of Houston Texas
Masters in Environmental Engineering December 2007
Anna University, India
B.Tech Chemical Engineering May 2005
[pic] Related Experience
Jacobs Engineering Group, Houston (January 2008 - Present)
. Arena - Radiation Analysis and Gas Dispersion Flammability Analysis
using PHAST Modeling software version 6.54 for the atmospheric vent
header vent stack.
. BP Cherry Point - Conducted Best Available Control Technology (BACT)
analysis for greenhouse gases in a manner that satisfies the BP
internal requirement to complete the Energy Efficiency Value Improving
Practice (VIP)
. COP - Prepared the Permit by Rule for Emergency Diesel Generators and
estimated the emissions from the generators
. Houston Airport Systems- Prepared the greenhouse gas mandatory
reporting plan for the IAH and Hobby Airports in Houston.
. Port of Seattle- Checked for gaps in the greenhouse gas emissions
calculation for the Seaport and Tacoma Airport as per the climate
registry general reporting protocol and EPA.
. Dow Aramco, Ras Tanura Integrated Project (RTIP)-Calculated the
fugitive emissions, air emissions from various sources (tank vent
emissions and other point sources) for input to the EIA. Compiled the
licensor data, vent stream characterization and flow rate data.
Prepared the air emission inventory. Identified gaps and confirmed
conformance with the basis of design. Prepared BAT report for the air
emissions to the atmosphere.
. Saudi Elastomers Saudi Arabia-Prepared permit application package,
gathered data for the permit application forms for air, hazardous
waste and noise. Estimated the fugitive emission count and the
emission calculations for various sources. Compared the air emission
rate with the Royal Commission Environmental Regulations (RCER)
standards. Prepared the Environmental Information Report.
. Chevron Philips Jubail Saudi Arabia-Prepared regulatory comparison
table, comparing the air and wastewater emission standards in EPA,
Worldbank, TCEQ BACT, PME and Royal Commission. Prepared the project
design document. Designed an incinerator program to treat the
wastewater from various units. The program was used to calculate the
stack gas emissions from the incinerator and the pollutant
concentration in the treated wastewater.
. GE Plastics Mt Vernon Indiana-Prepared air emission calculations and
MON MACT (Miscellaneous Organic NESHAP Maximum Available Control
Technology) regulatory review for the Monomer, Polymer and Co-Polymer
unit.
. Formosa Plastics Corporation, Petrochemicals; Point Comfort Texas-
Worked on the New Source Review permit applications and amendments for
the PVC manufacturing unit.
. Motiva Port Arthur Crude Expansion Project-Estimated the fugitive
count and emission calculation for various units.
. BP Texas City-Designed a vapor space model to calculate the VOC
concentration and flow rate of vapor exiting a non steady state
wastewater tank with rising liquid level following an oil spill.
Research Assistant, University of Houston (August 2005 - December 2007)
. Degradation of TCE and PCE mixtures in groundwater using bimetallic
nanoparticles.
. Produced Fe/Ni particles by foaming technology and proved that to be
more effective in the degradation than that produced by the solution
method.
. Solubility study of TCE and PCE in various surfactants (including the
bio-surfactant produced using the used vegetable oil) and analyzed the
interference of the two compounds.
. Developed a method for the preparation of Fe/Au nanoparticles.
. Characterization of the metallic particles using SEM, XRD, EDX and
UV Spectrophotometer
. Rate kinetics modeling by multiple regression analysis using MATLAB
National Environmental Engineering Institute (NEERI) (December 2004 - April
2005)
. Worked on the detection of enteric viruses in drinking water samples
using polymerase chain reaction and development of an economic
filtering device.
Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL) May 2003
. Member of a team that worked on improving the pour point and removing
the hydrogen sulphide from various parts of the production unit.
