Shift Superintendent
Led facility, production and shipping operations with 525 union workers and
up to 30 salaried employees. Communicated, followed up and coached the work
force on the company's strategic business/manufacturing objectives to
ensure Company profitability. Responsibilities include safety, blanking
operations, the production of stamped parts, metal assembly, quality
control, shipping and maintenance. Support, lead, develop and motivate
local leadership teams to optimize the Human Resource asset and
continuously evolve manufacturing efficiency and reduce cost. Key player
in rolling out, implementing and maintaining production related systems: QS
9001 - with responsibility for documentation of part quality/ production
process. Global Manufacturing System, (GMS): People Involvement, Built in
Quality, Standardization, Short Lead Time, Continuous Improvement. Lead
process audits to ensure key manufacturing, and performance metrics are
consistently tracked. Lean Manufacturing: includes process improvement and
cost reduction as well as Just-In-Time delivery processes to control
inventories and expedited material shipment. Reduced premium transportation
cost 22% below previous year costs.
Special Assignments
. Selected to participate at NUMMI, a joint venture between GM and
Toyota, focusing on Lean Manufacturing, 5s, pull systems (Kanban
signals) and visual management.
. Member of Line Transportation and Throughput Committee. Implementing
and documenting best practices, error proofing (Poke yoke),
standardized work and takt time, improving ADC's.

Superintendent of Blank and Shear 2000 - 2003
Managed a nine blanking system operation producing blanked steel to
stamping operations and shipping blanks to other stamping facilities;
staffed operation and coordinated blank production to timely meet stamping
requirements and maintain continuous material flow, effectively utilizing
lean manufacturing techniques to improve production and reduce cost.
. Recognized as the only department exceeding production targets in
2002.
Assistant Superintendent of Conventional Press Stamping 1999 - 2000
Coordinated the manpower and stamped parts production from Foot-Printed
production lines. These presses were not part of new transfer press
configuration. Met customer production /shipping requirements and produced
quality parts without worker injury. Team received recognition for
outstanding safety performance with no hospital visits or recordable
injuries for the year 2000.
General Foreman of Material Handling and Shipping 1996 - 1999
Directed and coordinated our production manpower and production material
movement. Facilitated on-time shipping to assembly plants in various
locations by trucks/railcars. Staffed and coordinated end of line material
drivers servicing production lines, reducing driver travel time and wasted
motion. Maintained storage banks to promote FIFO stock rotation. Was
selected for special assignment to identify and implement Lean
Manufacturing in Storage Banks.
