PROFILE
I am a results-oriented professional, able to work as a leader or team player with over 25 years combined
experience in management, customer service and technical capacities in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and
food services industries. My technical expertise includes automated packaging: specifically, cartons,
overwrap, banders, bundlers, shrink tunnels, horizontal and vertical case packers, custom conveyers and
palletizing. My ultimate focus is on seamless delivery of product to the end customer.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
IMA North America, Boston, MA April 2002 – August 2014
Supervisor Field Service – Managed all aspects of complex pharmaceutical, consumer and food
packaging projects from installation though validation for various global customers, including McNeil
Consumer Healthcare, Lilly, GlaxoSmithkline, Schering, MedImmune, Roche, Chanel, L’Oreal, and
Pepperidge Farm. Managed a team of seven field technicians to ensure all installations ultimately met
with FDA approval.
Selected Accomplishments:
Roche – Managed the installation of new tooling and delivered training to Roche employees to
ensure release of Tamiflu to the US government to avoid a possible epidemic. Inspected,
identified and replaced all obsolete electronic and electrical parts of packaging line. Developed
and maintained spare parts inventory of critical packaging equipment to ensure ongoing
availability of product to patients.
Lilly – Managed the installation of two state-of-the art high speed packaging lines to meet
customer/patient demand for diabetes medicines (Humalog and KwikPen), to include set-up,
validation and managing site acceptance testing (SAT). Trained Lily employees to use and
maintain equipment. Managed scheduling for service technicians from Italy, North America, and
Germany to accomplish successful installation of multiple packaging lines. Continued to oversee
all preventive maintenance of packaging lines once in production.
MedImmune – Managed the installation, validation, testing and training for a unique refrigerated
nasal flu vaccine, FluMist. Vaccine had to be packaged within specified timelines to prevent loss,
efficacy and safety of product. Packaging lines were built specifically to accommodate this
requirement.
Mother Parkers – Managed installation and start-up of nine high-speed K-cup coffee lines in
Canada and the United States from production of the K-cups through palletization to the final
shipper. These were the first fully-automated lines for this purpose used in North America.
Timely installation of this equipment allowed the company to meet the growing demand for this
product.
Quality Packaging Specialists, Burlington, NJ September 1999 – March 2002
Engineering Director – Managed all aspects of equipment maintenance including preventive
maintenance of equipment, parts inventory, log books and equipment certification in support of a
consumer products contract packaging production facility. Responsible for the hiring, management and
training of a staff of 7 maintenance mechanics, as well as the purchase of packaging machines and
materials to meet new job requirements. Primary customers were Kimberly-Clark and Procter and
Gamble.
Selected Accomplishments:
Identified cost savings of $250,000 annually by reviewing/renegotiating purchasing contracts for
packaging films and spare parts.
Reduced reliance on outside services by improved training of mechanics resulting in $25,000
savings annually.
Increased production by 25% by reducing downtime, increasing efficiency and speed, and
introducing automation to reduce labor costs.
Ilapak, Inc., Newtown, PA 1986 – 1999
Supervisor Field Service (1992 – 1999) – Managed the scheduling of all product installations and
emergency service calls at all North American, Mexican, Central American and Caribbean locations,
which included over 1,000 horizontal and vertical form fill seal machine installations and a customer base
of 700. Included 70% worldwide travel. Responsibilities also included trade show design and set up.
Managed a staff of 8 technical employees.
Selected Accomplishments:
Designed product compression/transfer system to increase sales by $2MM annually in high
margin product market.
Partnered with manufacturing to develop high-speed horizontal form/fill/seal shrink wrapper.
Senior Technician (1991 – 1992) – Collaborated in the management of all aspects of trade show set up,
including purchase of floor space and utilities, shipping and receiving of show equipment, design layout
and sales presentations. Supervised and trained Service Technicians.
Selected Accomplishments:
Collaborated with sales department to design and deliver technical presentations of equipment.
Credited with numerous secondary machine sales due to level of follow-up.
Designed and developed training procedures and manuals for new installations and after-sales
service.
Mechanical/Electrical Service Technician (1986 – 1991) – Responsible for the installation,
maintenance, and troubleshooting of packaging equipment at various customer locations in North
America and Europe. Developed customer training programs for the operation and maintenance of the
equipment. Participated in set-up of Ilapak displays at various trade shows.
