Academic Projects:
Client: Oklahoma State Department of Health
Project: Predicting factors that contribute to the denial of Medicaid
Insurance to customers
> Built a predictive model which deals with developing a targeted
campaign to decrease the number of Medicaid denials because of
non renewals. The non renewal leads to rejection of the Medicaid
in the 270/271 process. The aim of the analysis is to find out
the reasons which include analyzing variables like ICD9 codes,
Diagnosis Codes, Modifiers for non renewal and also denials
during the final billing process. Used SAS EM, EG and
programming in Base SAS to cleanse, analyze and build the model.
Used Neural Network, Decision Tree, Regression, and Ensemble
models.
Competition: SAS Data Mining Shootout M2009
Project: Prediction of Energy grass yield based on soil and weather
conditions
> Built a ranking model to rank the top three states and counties
in the US with respect to the energy grass densities based on
the soil and weather conditions. The data set included 20
independent variables and a target variable with over 20,000
records. Missing values in the target variable were handled
through cluster analysis. Data was then modeled using SAS
Enterprise Miner to predict the energy grass yield per acre in
each county. A density function was determined to rank the
yields of various counties and states. Base SAS was used
extensively to cleanse, analyze the data, and calculate
densities and ranks.
Course: Business Intelligence Tools and Techniques
Project: Predicting Customer Type for Asian Telco operator
> Project involves an Asian Telco operator who would like to make
use of existing customer usage and demographic data to identify
which customers are likely to switch to using their 3G network
for which the objective is to predict accurately as many current
3G customers as possible. The data had more than 200 variables
which were reduced to a few important variables using domain
expertise and techniques like Variable Reduction. Data mining
techniques like Decision Trees, Neural networks in SPSS
Clementine were used to predict the type of network. Training
data was used to build models and the best performing model is
to be applied on the scoring data which has 6000 customers to
predict the type of network for the future customers and target
accordingly.
Course: Database Marketing
Project: Model Selection for scoring the house-file of a catalogue
company
> A catalogue company mails between 6-12 catalogues per year to
its house file. The data sample has 2371 randomly chosen
observations from customers who responded positively to the fall
catalogue last year. Data includes a target variable specifying
the 'amount of orders placed' and the potential variables that
affect the behavior of this target variable. The main objective
is to build a good regression model using SAS EG that predicts
the 'amount of orders' on calibration data and use that model to
score the rest of the house file
Course: Database Marketing
Project: Predicting people's Response for buying in a mail campaign
> Building a predictive model to predict the potential customers
who are most likely to buy and include them in the mailing
campaign for this year. The model built should improve the
profits being generated. RFM and Logistic Regression Models were
constructed on the cleansed data and the best model was
determined based on highest profits generated. Decile Analysis
was then applied to determine the top percent customer base in
terms of generating high profits.
Client: Kids Discovery Camp, CEAT department at Oklahoma State University
Project: Information Systems Development for Kids Discovery Camp using
ASP.Net and SQL Server 2005
> Kids Discovery Camp is the summer camp organized by the
department .The primary purpose of the project was to build a
web-based registration form using ASP.Net to collect camper
information and reduce the manual effort put in maintaining the
information. The project's database was built using SQL Server
2005 to maintain the data throughout the years.
