clinicians, interfacing with other departments to ensure a seamless
integration of services, and conducting assessments to supervise clinicians
as they perform their duties additional to clinical interviewing (e.g., as
participation in various projects, research, clinical education, etc.).
Encourage and oversee the career development of clinicians. Conduct

various stages of their cancer diagnosis at a psycho-oncology wellness

with children and their parents. Received special training in programs such
as relaxation, guided imagery and psychological mindfulness. Engaged in
community outreach activities, which enable clients to feel more
comfortable while participating in programs at the center. Co-facilitated

care to children, adolescents and their families. Conducted individual and
group programs within a community-based psychology training clinic.
Provided weekly individual and group therapy to children and adolescents.
Collaborated with medical professionals, schools and residential staff in
regards to implementing treatment interventions. The children and
adolescents were ethnically diverse, and ranged in diagnoses from mood
disorders and behavioral difficulties to more severe personality disorders.

Mental Health and Deafness Resource Center - Scott Nolan Hospital
Des Plaines, IL
Assessed hearing, deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adolescents. The
children and adolescents were culturally diverse and presented with a
variety of problems. Administered, scored and interpreted standard
psychological tests, such as the WISC-IV, WAIS-III, Rorschach, Thematic
Apperception Test, The Rhode Island Language Test, Wide Range Assessment of
Memory and Learning (WRAML) and various other standardized tests. Wrote
psychological reports based on client's cognitive, intellectual and
personality functioning and outlined extensive treatment recommendations
aimed primarily at parents and teachers. Engaged in weekly individual
treatment with children and adolescents addressing their concerns with
peers, parents and social issues. Therapy offered in group, family and
parent-child settings.

When a Parent has Cancer

Co-presented and provided information that educated and informed adult
children who are in the caregiving role to their parent who has cancer.
Topics consisted of providing information about the unique caregiving
experience and discussing some differences that spousal caregiving may
entail. Additionally, provided information about end-of-life issues,
respite/hospice care and signs that death is near. Furthermore, educated
parents about ways in which they could balance their own family, work,
outside stressors and explored individual stressors each one faced.
Provided information and suggestions about self-care issues, for example,
ways that they each can make time to care for themselves. The intention of
the presentation was to help normalize the caregiver's experience, while at
the same time highlighting emotional components.

Kids in the Classroom: How to Cope
Homewood, IL
Co-presented and implemented information that educated parents, social
workers and pediatricians about children who have parents who have been
diagnosed with cancer. Topics included signs to look for in children who
have a family member who has a cancer diagnoses and how to help these
children better cope with this in the classroom. Additionally, information
was provided about how to speak with children who have been diagnosed with
cancer and how they can make the child's experience as smooth as possible.
Included information about how to talk to the diagnosed child's classmates
about what is happening to that particular child and what they can do to
help feel that child comfortable at school.
