BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
FRANKLIN ELECTRIC CO., INC. BLUFFTON, IN
Manager, Global Manufacturing Systems 1995 - PRESENT
Currently heading a team of five analysts for the purpose of support and
development of the J. D. Edwards World ERP system, along with various
internal Intranet based systems and a barcode system from a corporate
location for eight domestic plants and five foreign manufacturing
facilities. Providing coordination, primary analysis, and quality control
of all manufacturing related projects for synchronous flow, discrete, and
lean manufacturing systems on an IBM AS/400.
Responsible for managing the conversion of all plants into the J.D.Edwards
World 7.3 system from assorted platforms and applications. Currently
working on a corporate wide conversion of J D Edwards World 7.3 to 9.2.
Sole provider of setup and training for all manufacturing modules:
Engineering, Inventory Control, Shop Floor Control, MPS, MRP, CRP, and
Purchasing during implementation of all domestic and three of the foreign
facilities in Germany, Italy, and Mexico.
Participated in numerous Kaizen events to establish various lean
manufacturing solutions to throughput problems:
- Kanban for replenishment of the warehouse
- Assemble to Order & Make to Order for our regional warehouse
- The use of CRP to aid in the production planning process
Setup and implemented VMI procedures for numerous consignment suppliers.
Implemented EDI for Franklin Electric.
Provided full evaluation and final decision to implement UFIDA ERP system
for our China manufacturing facility. Oversaw implementation.
Established Physical Inventory and Cycle Count procedures for the
Corporation utilizing JDE and Barcode, along with establishing an
administration front-end for the Cycle Count.

HUFFY BICYCLE COMPANY CELINA, OH
Manufacturing Systems Manager 1983 - 1995
Managed a staff of up to seven system developers, including contractors, in
the implementation, enhancement, and support of five major modules of
Computer Associates' CAS manufacturing package including Bill of Material,
Inventory Control, Shop Floor Control, MRP, and MPS. This was all
accomplished on an IBM ES/9000 under MVS/ESA.
- Systematized all scheduling and dispatching functions in the plant,
providing improved inter- and intra-departments.
- Managed security base for approximately 700 users of the CAS
system.
- Project leader on the implementation of a multi-plant environment
within CAS, when a second bicycle plant was established in 1994.
Directed the evaluation and installation of a PC based picking and shipment
system for the distribution area, which utilized RF and EDI transmission of
advanced shipping notices to major retailers.
Managed the creation of a PC network based barcode system for the receiving
area capable of receipt entry and validation of loads, along with two-way
interface with the mainframe system.
Responsible for managing direction and support of all personal computers in
the facility (200+). Instrumental in Implementation of Windows
environments, along with software standards throughout both manufacturing
facilities.
Twice received the CEO's Highest Recognition award for extraordinary
performance and contribution to the corporation.
Managed four developers, along with the project itself, to implement
Honeywell's HMS manufacturing system running on dual DPS8 mainframes.
After implementation, provided necessary support and training to all
manufacturing functions.
FEDERAL-MOGUL CORPORATION FRANKFORT, IN
Data Processing Manager 1979 - 1983
In charge of a support staff for plant computer hardware and software,
along with application development and a three shift operations.
Coordinated and participated in conversion of Data Entry and RJE from Data
100 to IBM 8140, rewrite of labor reporting system, installation of an MRO
system, conversion to and the implementation of IBM COPICS Manufacturing
Control software on the corporate mainframe, and the creation of a Human
Resource system.. Provided overall direction and assisted in the
introduction of IBM PC's at the facility.
FEDERAL-MOGUL CORPORATION SOUTHFIELD, MI
Planning Analyst 1977 - 1979
Was responsible for divisional systems and coordinating multi-plant
support. Designed and implemented an automatic order interface between our
aftermarket division and the plants. Instrumental in the implementation of
division-wide use of system development methodologies.
FEDERAL-MOGUL CORPORATION VAN WERT, OH
Programmer Analyst 1973 - 1979
Performed rewrite of Physical Inventory and Order Entry systems. Was
responsible for support and enhancements of the following plant systems:
Factory Payroll, Bill of Materials, Cost Accounting, Order Entry,
Invoicing, Sales, Shop Order Status, MRP, and Physical Inventory. These
were all written in COBOL and run on IBM 370s and 303X corporate mainframes
under OS-MVS.
