On a temporary basis, helped AARP move articles from its old website to its
new one via a content management system. Checked metadata, added SEO
keywords, and wrote article descriptions and promotional text. Moved around
500 articles to complete travel section of new website. Added related
article sidebars to bannered articles in travel and giving back sections.
Currently enter monthly print stories and daily news stories and related
metadata for AARP Bulletin into content management system and build article
archives.

Onsite contractor at U.S. Department of Transportation in Directives
division of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Office of
Management Information and Services. Helped write and edit directives in MS
Word for the agency. Interviewed subject matter experts, looked at previous
policies and similar policies at other agencies to create initial drafts of
directives. Worked with office of primary interest to create circulating
draft. Delivered directives for concurrence in all pertinent divisions of
FMCSA. Received comments/edits and worked with office of primary interest
to incorporate them. Tracked progress of directives on a MS Excel
spreadsheet and made weekly status reports throughout vetting process.

Onsite contractor at U.S. Department of Transportation in Physical
Qualifications division of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Administration's Office of Policy and Program Development. Wrote Federal
Registry notices announcing Medical Review Board meetings, applications for
vision exemptions for commercial motor vehicle drivers, final disposition
notices for the applications, and exemption renewals. Maintained
spreadsheets of applicants and track notices through the approval process.
Wrote response letters to inquiries from drivers and doctors, Congressmen,
and employers who write on their behalf. Edited documents such as medical
evidence reports, Medical Review Board meeting summaries, FMCSA web site
materials, and any other written work that arises. Largest single editing
work is for a multi-chapter paper on commercial vehicle safety laws for
publication by SAE. Also created reference lists for paper. Occasionally
wrote short reports on medical issues affecting commercial drivers.
Occasionally packaged letters to be mailed out. Much of the work requires
cooperation with other members of the Physical Qualification division.
