Jefferson County Safety Officer, Watertown, New York April 1,

2009 - present

Safety Officer for Jefferson County - full time

Jefferson County consists of 22 towns and 17 villages. In addition, the

Safety Officer has responsibility for the County Office Building, Highway

Department, Watertown Airport, Dog Shelter, Department of Social Services,

Public Safety Building, and the Public Health Department. Responsibilities

include, but not limited to, the following :

. Conducting department inspections for all applicable OSHA / PESH

standards.

. Updating all MSDS's for all the buildings.

. Perform all required training under OSHA / PESH standards.

. Advise, and resolve safety issues that arise in all towns and

villages.

. Review accident reports for trends and make recommendations for

improvements.

. Write and post written operating procedures for all machinery and

equipment.

. Conduct annual evacuation practice drills as required by the County of

Jefferson.

Century Mold Co., Inc., Rochester, NY

November 2005 - May 2007

Safety Coordinator -part time employment

Re-assessed the existing safety program at Century Mold and significant

improvements were made for the safety of their employees. They included:

. Developed a new overhead crane training procedure

. Instituted a new department inspection procedure for supervisors and

employees

. Coordinated a prescription eyewear program with the Walmart Vision

Center for all employees.

. A chemical / PPE training matrix was written for the Housekeeping /

Maintenance department. This consolidated the usage of chemicals and

improved the cost savings, while providing safe work instructions.

. Revamped and improved the fork truck and lockout training program.

. Wrote and communicated a variety of safety talks to all employees on

a weekly basis.

. Placed their chemical listing on Microsoft Access for the Hazard

Communication Program. This improved reporting and accessibility.

2004

Corporate Staff Assistant, Health and Safety

(2000-2004)

My primary assignment was to develop and implement safety culture change

initiatives jointly with the United Auto Workers (UAW). The newly

developed joint culture change programs are currently being used at all

Delphi facilities in the US and Europe. In addition to the culture change

programs, a variety of other safety programs and initiatives were developed

to raise awareness of safety and reduce the accidents in the workplace.

Additional duties performed:

. Interacted with Divisional Safety Managers to identify and resolve

current health and safety issues.

. Served as a knowledgeable resource for all 45 Delphi U.S. facilities.

. Compiled standard Safe Operating Procedures for high risk jobs using

examples from each Delphi Plant and distributing the final procedures

to all plants.

. Promoted Best Practices in all programs and procedures throughout

corporation.

. Presented safety behavior based culture change training programs and

procedures.

. Served as emergency safety coordinator for the Corporate Staff at

Delphi Headquarters.

. Coordinated annual health and Safety conference with the United Auto

Workers.

(1987-2000)

My major responsibility was for a complete health and safety program

affecting 3500 employees in a UAW/GM/ Delphi Facility. As the safety

representative for the plant, I was responsible for all mandatory training

of employees and had a staff reporting directly to me who helped develop

and coordinate the training programs. Other managerial duties included:

. Interpretation of all governing standards

. Maintenance of all required record keeping

. Conducted safety inspections

. Monitored industrial hygiene activities

. Interfaced with all State and Federal Compliance Officers

. Investigated all near miss as well as recordable and lost time

accidents
