CD&L - Nashville, Tennessee
District Manager - Responsible for the Central District consisting of
10 operations located in Georgia, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and
Tennessee. Annual revenue for the district was $14 million. Staff
included 10 Terminal Managers, 22 employees, and 240 drivers. All
operations were profitable and overall EBITDA margins for the district
increased from 7.3% to 10%. Company was acquired by Velocity Express
in September of 2006.

Accomplishments
. Inserted new management team and changed the settlement method
resulting in less than 10% turn over in the past 12 months for a
significant home delivery account.
. As a result of delivering exceptional service levels was able to
negotiate a 2 year extension and significant rate increase with
a large distribution account.
. Successfully moved the Atlanta facility, negotiated a new lease,
and purchased equipment to accommodate a new home delivery
account.
. Established monthly meetings with Terminal Managers to review
P&L's and provided trend analysis and graphs to illustrate
shipment volumes. This moved into action a plan to optimize
routes as a result of decreasing volumes.
. Implemented an Auto Parts Distribution network in East Tennessee
and negotiated lease contracts with Bush Leasing for semis and
straight trucks to support the network.
. Developed a home delivery model to convert employee drivers to
independent contractors based on a per delivery commission
structure.
VELOCITY EXPRESS - Nashville, Tennessee
Senior Network Manager - Responsible for the Southeast Region
consisting of 17 branches located in the Carolinas, Georgia, and
Tennessee. Annual revenue for the network was $36 million. Staff
included 4 General Managers, 17 Terminal Managers, 55 employees, and
more than 600 drivers.
Accomplishments
. Successfully improved operating margins 4% by converting all
employee drivers to independent contractors. This action
eliminated accident cost and significantly reduced insurance
cost.
. Upon being assigned P&L responsibilities for Alabama and
Arkansas reduced cost and increased revenue thus improving
EBITDA margins by better than 5%.
. Selected and negotiated 6 facility leases and designed the floor
plans of each.
. Reduced overhead in the 5 state area by 20%.
. Regarded as a strong Regional Manager with the ability to
improve bottom line results as evidenced by being awarded
greater responsibility.
. Developed a delivery solution for a large pharmaceutical
distributor located in Birmingham, Alabama with delivery
requirements to 25 stores in the Kentucky area. During the next
year the store count would grow to more than 200 stores and the
delivery network would grow to include Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio,
and West Virginia.
