Capital from Seoul, Investments in California: The main business of Apex

Venture Partners has been focused on 1) to set up a joint venture PE/ VC

fund, and 2) to facilitate Asian venture and capital investments in

Southern California. One of the achievements includes a $20 million of

fund raising for a SBIC backed venture capital fund, Hamilton High Tech

Fund. With the increased capacity of $150 million the fund was restructured

as a joint venture of Hamilton Apex High Tech Fund. Having served as a

founding partner of the JV fund and managed/ supervised an investment

capital allocation of $1 - $3 million to the second seed round of the

portfolios including Angstrom, CargoTech, Mohomine and Converge.

Capital from Seoul, Investments in China: The idea and scheme of a SBIC

backed venture capital fund had got a serious attention of Mr. Koryo Chang,

governor of Shandong Province of China. With a consortium of Korean

venture capital firms led by LG Securities of Seoul a $45 million targeted

Shandong High Tech Fund had been progressed quite a lot. Even the JV fund

was not finalized a valuable network of local leaders in government and

financial institutions, and Korean VC/ PE firms based in Hong Kong, Beijing

and Shanghai has been well maintained for the further cultivation.

Securities of Seoul more than $150 million had been raised for private

equity investments of Southern California. Which include a total of $20

million in mezzanine debt/ warrants for the Nextwave Telecom that had

acquired $4.6 billion value of bandwidth from the FCC, and a total of $20

million of PIPEs/ Pre- IPOs in Xylan Co that was acquired by Alcatel later,

and Asian community banks.
