Controller for this $30 million multi-site semiconductor company.
Responsible for daily accounting, staff management and training, inventory,
costing, production reports, analysis, internal controls, payroll,
intercompany transactions and corporate allocations, financial statement
preparation, reconciliations, audit schedules, and forecasting for three
manufacturing facilities located in San Jose, Portland and Chandler.
. Reconciled consignment and perpetual inventories to general ledger,
corrected FIFO layers, determined reserves and developed method to
segregate excess inventory (physically and in computer system) that
allowed company to identify products still available for use, but carried
at zero value for GAAP.
. Reconciled system generated clearing accounts for first time since
software inception, then implemented procedures to identify and correct
inventory, credit card and A/P errors as they occurred.
. As industry volume dramatically fell, gathered data, and modeled
potential divestitures. Prepared proforma statements (Balance Sheet,
Profit and Loss and Cash Flow) for various site closure scenarios.
. Created new accounts and spreadsheets to keep track of site closure costs
and remaining closure liabilities. Recognizing the need to eliminate
corporate overhead, designed complex, but simple-to-use spreadsheets,
wrote procedures, and streamlined month end closing to allow remaining
staff to prepare financial statements.
. Proficient with MAS200 (accounting software), FRx (report writer), FAS
(Fixed Asset Software), ADP (payroll processing), and custom designed
manufacturing legacy system.

Plant Controller / Cost Accountant
Senior on-site financial manager for this $20 million manufacturer of
automotive industry metal stampings. Majority of time was spent on
inventory, costing, estimating, standards, application of variable and
fixed overhead, variance investigation, work order closing, cycle and
physical inventory counts, make versus buy analysis, and process
improvements. Responsible for purchasing, shipping and receiving, human
resources and daily accounting functions including journal entries,
financial statements, and budgeting. Created the company's first annual
budget - which required departmental segmentation of the general ledger.
. Prior to being hired, the company had large profit and loss swings each
month due to inaccurate inventories. Developed procedures to determine
when to close work orders, created queries to identify missing issue and
labor transactions, and implemented cycle counting. Within two years,
inventory errors decreased from 35,000 PPMs (Parts Per Million) down to
340 PPMs.
. Investigated and determined the best approach for utilizing existing
modules and features in CMS - the company's ERP (Enterprise Resource
Planning) system. Then implemented and trained employees on using scrap
reason reporting, efficiency reports, and the system's drill down
capabilities.
. Using the company's ERP system, implemented Lot Traceability, eliminating
substantial non-value-added effort that was previously used to fill out
paper forms and manually trace transactions.
. Member of MRP implementation team. Quickly became the "go-to" person
whenever requirements didn't "look right" or when customer demands
mandated a new creative solution.
. Financial representative for Quote Estimating, calculated costs, BOM and
routing structures, resource requirements, capacity constraints and
potential financial impact.

Brought in to bring costing and operational experience to the accounting
department of this mid-sized manufacturer for the semiconductor industry.
Previous Controller left after a failed ERP implementation.
. Created new G/L account structure that would support financial,
manufacturing and budgetary needs. Rapidly learned Vista software.
Developed new conversion plan and successfully converted in 6 weeks.
. Reconstructed previous 6 months transactions in Vista, reconciled several
years of balance sheet errors.
. Via long-distance managed the implementation of Vista financial modules
for Asian subsidiary.
Interim Controller 3-Month Assignment
Phoenix, AZ
Hired to correct books and note any accounting irregularities for a Phoenix
construction subcontractor. Reconciled 60+ construction contracts, costs,
and billings. Determined job percent complete.
. Prepared new financial statements -- significantly restating financial
and tax results for 2000 based on creating correct WIP (Work In Process)
and Completed Contract (for tax) Schedules.
. Reconciled employee wages, payroll tax deposits, filled amended returns,
and requested IRS and State penalty relief. Trained staff and wrote
accounting manual for new Controller.
o Costing & Systems Consultant 4-Month Assignment
Mesa, AZ
Contracted to design and write job costing reports, and to train employees
on use of the company's MAPICS ERP system for a Mesa aerospace
manufacturer. Recalculated inventory and costs to GAAP standards.
. Interviewed employees (shop, administrative and management), then wrote
customized queries for individual users. These included Late PO Items,
Labor and Material Variances Reports, Shop Floor Dispatch Lists, Jobs
Behind Schedule, Efficiency Reports, Slow Moving and Excess Inventory
reports.
Project Manager - ERP Implementation 6-Month Assignment

Contracted to help select and implement Visual Manufacturing, an ERP
system, for a Seattle-based contract manufacturer. Flowcharted company's
business processes. Comprehensively learned new software. Designed and
tested an implementation plan. Managed the system implementation budget
and deadlines.
. Trained company staff on system basics, such as: standards, BOM (Bills
of Material) structure, work orders, routing operations, work centers,
MRP, inventory control, costing and database concepts.

conversions including G/L, P/R, A/R, A/P, Purchasing, EDI, Inventory and
Cost modules, going from manual, to Excel based, to Solomon, to MAPICS.

implementation. Specific responsibilities included creating item master
records, bills of material, routings, work centers, and costing
