Micro-Electrical Mechanical Systems (MEMS) Packaging Department
Technical Student Intern –Worked 8 – 15 hrs/wk, while taking 12-15 credit hours at UNM
• Packaged MEMS devices in the clean room which consists of die placement (manual and automatic
through program writing), wire bonding (manual and automatic through program writing), lid sealing
(using two different SST machines), die inspection, and lead crimping
• Took measurements of MEMS devices using a measuring microscope
• Designed parts for current projects using Solid Works
• Designed and ran our department data base using Microsoft Access
• Researched and studied epoxies for careful determination on proper adhesion for various packaging
projects
NASA-Micro Gravity - Houston, TX 05/05-07/06
Team member
• Researched how fuel cells are obtained and the efficiency of using electrolysis to obtain fuel cells
• Quantified and qualified the effects of gravity on the surface tension forces applied to bubbles as
they form on electrodes during electrolysis
• Performed the experiment again while pulsating the electrodes and applying ultrasonic waves to
determine their effects on bubble propagation
• Performed the same 1-G operations in microgravity conditions on a DC-9 aircraft used for
simulating various gravity conditions
