HIGHLIGHTS OF SKILLS
. SUPPLIER QUALITY ENGINEER
As part of the overall product qualification process, I validated the
product performance to ensure it met published specification and
performance criteria. The product lines included interior and exterior
components, windows, brakes and HVAC. This required a constant presence
at each supplier facilities. Act as liaison between production and
supplier organizations due to rejected goods at incoming inspection,
manufacturing or from customer complaints, so that improvements and
corrective actions can be implemented and monitored. Write reports
outlining assessment, audit and first article findings, along with
recommendations. Lead in the factory transfer of projects so that all
requirements and specifications are clearly communicated to the supplier.
. PROJECT MANAGEMENT
In charge of implementing continuous improvement processes, utilizing
Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen principles in developing manufacturing
cells for the production of industrial components. Implement the
project policies and procedures defining the project estimating,
scheduling and costs. Monitor the project development cost trends in
order to detect over-runs and potential problem areas. Produce detailed
cost reports across multiple capital approvals, capturing spent to date
data and accurate cost forecasting.
. MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING
Work with Marketing, R&D, Cost Accounting, and Materials on new product
development. Serve as the voice of operations in the development
process and work on design for manufacturability and assembly.
Responsible for the following phases: planning, design/process,
preproduction and production, applying concepts, practices and
procedures. Work in a hands-on manner to develop design strategies,
make recommendations to management and coordinate implementation.
Coordinate the implementation of Engineering Change Releases. Review
ECN's prior to their release to ensure that the design is producible as
drawn, that methods are defined via routing, time standards, process
plans, detailed work plans and tool orders. Coordinate material and
tooling availability with the Tool Room, Purchasing, and Production
Control. Develop and implement efficient and safe work methods, Lean
material process flows, proper time standards, and the acquisition of
equipment and tooling for maximum efficiency of the production process.
Develop justification on new equipment based on monetary savings,
capacity, and safety. Write Capital Authorization Requests for new
equipment. Develop, plan, and coordinate the implementation of shop
layouts for improved material flow, increased plant capacity, placement
of new equipment, optimizing existing shop capacities, new production
processes. Oversee project until successful completion.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
My responsibilities as a Supplier Quality Engineer consisted of being in
charge of multiple suppliers. The products included all interior items such
as walls, floors, ceiling, seats, doors and window components. The exterior
items included the brakes, HVAC, and front and rear bonnets for the
manufacture of commuter trains. Acted as liaison between supplier and
Quality Engineers and Customer Service as part of the overall product
process, I validated the product performance to ensure it met published
specifications and performance criteria. Acted as a project leader for
coordinating Supplier Corrective Actions plans working jointly for
improvement, resolution and verification of effectiveness of corrective
actions undertaken. The goal of producing a defect free product that was
delivered on time to maintain the uninterrupted production flow of my
company's product was consistently accomplished.
In Project Management I was responsible to manage the creation of assembly
and manufacturing cells. Implemented continuous improvement processes,
utilizing Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen principles. An understanding of
conceptual estimating and schedule requirements and coordinating input
with the Project Team in a timely and professional manner. Produced
detailed cost reports across multiple capital approvals, accurately
capturing spent to date data and accurate cost forecasting. The ultimate
goal of the cells was to accomplish the production of a product from the
inception of the design to final assembly of the product.
As a Manufacturing Engineer/Supplier Quality Engineer my responsibilities
required the process and quality improvement of the products produced and
procured by my employer. The quality required is 100% defect free product
that is delivered on time to maintain the uninterrupted production flow of
my company's product.
Result: All the suppliers and customers that have been under my charge have
accomplished this objective.
Modified the design of impeller shafts.
Result: Reduced rework by 95% and decreased production labor time by 60%,
annual cost reduction $1,500.000.00.
Consolidated the manufacture of products produced from two subsidiaries
into one.
Result: Reduced manufacturing cost by 20%, annual cost reduction
$6,000,000.00.
Modified and optimized the manufacturing of impellers.
Result: Standardized most of the items by decreasing the cost to
manufacture by 40%, annual cost reduction $4,000,000.00.
Developed the rights to manufacture Biotechnology equipment, in managing a
team to develop this equipment to the design and manufacturing criteria to
industry standards.
Result: The Company became the leader in this technology, as a result
received several million-dollar contracts.
