WORK EXPERIENCE
Quest Diagnostics Inc.
Irving, TX 75063
November 1998-January 2010
Referral Rep. I
Primary Duties: Pick up specimens from Specimen Mgmt. Dept. that were
already received and accessioned, most are aliquoted some I had to do.
After all specimens are aliquoted, separated by destination and stability I
filled any short specimens by locating any extra specimen left from in-
house testing determine stability, pack-out specimens to various labs for
send-out testing. Run a Bill of Lading report to accompany the specimens,
fill out air bills for each destination, label boxes and freight bags
according to commercial airline regulations and fill out the couriers
shipping logs. Some went room temp, refrigerated and frozen, so I did
handle dry ice following all hazmat rules.
Secondary Duties: Specimens that were short I put a TIQ on them which
generated a report. I worked reports according to SOP rules. I handled
incoming calls from hospitals, clinics, other departments and some patients
on test information and supplies, using my customer service skills. I
often did mail, which consisted of receiving/sending test results using
HIPPA rules. I did copies, faxes and made calls to clients, departments
and other labs. I have very good problem solving skills especially with
misplaced/misrouted specimens and shorts, etc. What I couldn't handle I
consulted with my Lead and Supervisor and fellow co-workers within my
department and other departments. I handled my department
supplies/inventory, ordered and stocked/restocked after my shift. I always
volunteered for extra work in various other departments, came in early and
stayed late during bad weather or late shipments. I was very useful in all
areas of the laboratory.
