2010 Database Technician, The Southern Highlands Reserve, Lake Toxaway, NC
• Independently created an Access Database for plant Phenology data records.
• Relational tables, forms, sub forms and queries were developed for efficient and
intuitive data entry and query by SHR staff, without need for technical expertise.
2010 GIS Technician (volunteer), The North Carolina Arboretum, Asheville, NC
• Created an ArcGIS GeoDatabase from existing AutoCAD data and hand drawn
maps in PDF format.
• Existing data was converted to vector data, GeoReferenced and digitized in
ArcView. Converted vector data and raster data was used to generate a
GeoDatabase in ArcCatalog.
2009 2010 Third Key Manager, Pet Supermarket, Asheville, NC
• Delegated employee work assignments, processed returns/exchanges, daily
opening and closing of store and cash register, education of policy and methods to
employees.
• Reconciled receipts from cashier personnel, documented cumulative sales,

Created a relational GeoDatabase in ArcCatalog consisting of Hemlock point data
•
and MS Access tabular data which consisted of Hemlock historical treatment
records.
• Trimble GPS data collection of Eastern Hemlock trees and uploaded data to
ArcMap using Trimble Pathfinder Office. Modified GeoDatabase as project
evolved.
2008 2009 Student Research Assistant (paid), Dept. of Geosciences and Natural Resources,
WCU (Advisor: Dr. Ron Davis)
• Independently tracked and mapped the Eastern Box Turtle at Balsam Mountain
Preserve (Balsam, NC) using Radio Telemetry and GPS equipment.
• Generated a Geographic Information System (ArcView) to evaluate habitat,
produce maps, and analyze home range in relation to roads, vegetation and house
lots.
• Correlation analysis was used to determine whether or not a relationship existed
between wildlife movements and traffic intensity.
2008 GIS Internship, The Southern Highlands Reserve, Lake Toxaway, NC
• Converted AutoCAD site plan files and MS Access database files into an ArcGIS
relational GeoDatabase.
• Database was designed and modified to suit client needs and maps were generated.
• Assisted client with technical support to assess quality of data as well as manage
layers and characteristics to ensure an efficient GIS conversion.
