PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
1991 to Present Senior Consultant, Reservoir Engineering
International Reservoir Technologies, Inc., Lakewood,
Colorado
Secondment to BP Kuwait and Kuwait Oil Company, working in KOC's North
Kuwait Group. I moved with my family to Kuwait for three years, from
October, 2002 through October, 2005.
Engineer-in-charge for Sabriyah Upper Burgan sandstone reservoir, North
Kuwait - Late 2002 through early 2003.
. 1+ BSTBO reservoir in the massive Sabriyah Field in North Kuwait.
. Multiple channel sands reservoir under primary depletion, with plans to
initiate waterflooding.
. Supervised a reservoir team that included a KOC reservoir engineer,
KOC production engineer, and a contract development geologist.
. Defined near- and medium-term development drilling plans and
schedules, workovers, and surveillance, all to maintain production
levels for centralized production facilities.
Engineer-in-charge for Sabriyah Mauddud carbonate reservoir, North Kuwait
- Mid 2003 through late 2005.
. Multi-billion barrel "super giant" depletion drive, carbonate reservoir
undergoing waterflood, 18-26 API oil.
. Supervised a reservoir team that included a senior BP
reservoir/production engineer, a KOC senior production engineer, two
young KOC engineers, a KOC geologist, and a BP senior geologist.
. Mentored a number of other young KOC engineers during my assignment
. Developed ongoing reservoir management plan, including development
drilling, well workovers, well surveillance and pattern waterflood
management.
. Responsible for day to day operations decisions and production rate
maintenance.
. Planned and monitored in real time horizontal well drilling activities
with team geoscientists.
Participating Engineer, BP North Kuwait Project evaluation
. Comprehensive analysis of reserves and production potential of the
North Kuwait reservoirs that were potentially up for bid from Kuwait
Oil Company for operatorship.
. Participated in rate forecasting, uncertainty analysis, economic
analysis, drilling and development plan optimizations, artificial lift
method investigations, and completion optimizations planning.
Completed a number of multi-discipline, full field simulation studies in
19 years as a reservoir simulation engineer at IRT, including;
. Yarigui-Cantagallo, Middle Magdelena Basin, Colombia - Ecopetrol
20 API oil, structurally complex reservoir, slated for waterflood
. Nakika Fourier, deepwater Gulf of Mexico - BP
Series of stacked reservoirs, some volatile oil, some retrograde
condensate; model used for continuing development
. North Kuwait Artificial Lift Study - BP Kuwait
Comprehensive, multi-reservoir comparative study to evaluate the
relative merits of a number of artificial lift methods for the
Sabriyah and Raudhatain fields in North Kuwait. NODAL analysis,
reservoir simulations, economic evaluations, pressure transient
analyses were all components of this study.
. Lamar Block VI, VLE305, Lake Maracaibo, Venezuela - PDVSA
Structurally complex, volatile oil reservoirs.
. Uquo and Stubb Creek Fields, Nigeria - Prudence Petroleum
Evaluation of two small reservoirs located onshore in the Eastern
Niger Delta.
. Austin Creek Field, Wind River Basin, Wyoming - Nance Petroleum
Compositional simulation study of the Austin Creek Field, studying
impacts of gas cycling, and potential for CO2 injection.
. East Bay, South Pass, Block 27, Gulf of Mexico - Ocean Energy
Reservoir study of Gulf Coast waterflood to optimize injection and
recommend infill locations.
. SW Canyon City, Oklahoma - UMC
Simulation model built to investigate infill opportunities in a deep,
tight gas reservoir
. S. Lucien Field, Oklahoma - UMC
Mature field waterflood candidate evaluation using a reservoir
simulation model
1989 to 1991 Senior Software Engineer
Scientific Software-Intercomp, Inc., Denver, Colorado
Responsible for enhancement and new feature development of an interactive
reservoir simulation input and results processing system, running on a
broad range of large computers, minicomputers and UNIX workstations.
1985 to 1989 Customer Service Manager
Pincock, Allen & Holt, Inc., Lakewood, Colorado
Responsible for complete technical support, enhancement, and development of
an integrated geologic and ore deposit modeling software package marketed
to the mining industry. Served as a technical consultant on many open pit
mining projects, both domestically and internationally.
EDUCATION AND ASSOCIATIONS
B. Sc., Petroleum Engineering, Colorado School of Mines 1985
