the State of Kansas for job placement with welfare recipients from 2000-2004.

required travel primarily throughout a four-state geographical area as the sole vocational
case manager within Kansas and Oklahoma. Began part-time and steadily increased
referrals to a full-time position.
1998-1999 State Vocational Director Curtis & Associates, Inc.
Kearney, Nebraska
Position involved writing a federal grant proposal of $2 million to provide employment
services to persons receiving state assistance in Kansas. Implemented program to ensure
financial, personnel, and outcomes were met. This position was at the highest level of
management at the state-level for this extensive federal welfare-to-work initiative in
Kansas supervising a team of 15-20 counselors in over five separate offices throughout a
fifteen county area. Portions of this program are still being implemented in Kansas.
1995-1998 Vocational Services Director Sumner Mental Health Center
Wellington, Kansas
Employed initially as a case manager in July of 2005 with a proposal provided to the
Board in November of 2005 regarding a Federal/State grant opportunity. This grant was
approved by the State of Kansas which allowed the initiation of a program for the Center
to provide vocational services. As Vocational Services Director, program implementation
required training and hiring of staff members, fiscal oversight, coordination with State
contact personnel, and education to the business leaders in the community. This program
provided services to include vocational assessment testing, employment placement
support, job readiness counseling and supported employment services to persons with
severe mental illness and welfare recipients. Superior outcomes resulted in contract with
C&A (above) and Sumner Mental Health as subcontractors.
1993 Administrative Assistant Mental Health Consortium
Administrative Assistant for the Winfield Correctional Facility/Substance Abuse Program
for eight months. Assisted with department layoffs and closure in June/July of 1993.
