WORK HISTORY
9/2009-8/2010 Customer Service Representative, City of Tallahassee -
Utility Department
Hired on through Spherion as a Customer Service Representative (CSR)
to assist with the new Fire Service Fee that was implemented
in October 2009. Trained in CIS PeopleSoft 8 and E+, assisted
Spanish and English customers over the phone with their
utility bill questions, concerns, transfer of utility
service, stopping their services, payment arrangements and
extensions. Assisted the Walk-in facility with the same
issues but in a more personal manner. Became a City of
Tallahassee Temp on January 13, 2010 and on April 24, 2010
became a permanent employee.

Part-time position - Excellent customer service, cashier, birthday
party hostess and lane assistance.
2006-2009 Senior Secretary for Management and Marketing Department,
Christopher Newport University (CNU)
Provide secretarial and administrative assistant support to
30 professors, which included 2 department chairs with
correspondence, organizational records, programs, and
projects. Organize, schedule and coordinate professor's
travel and prepare necessary travel and expense documents.
Excellent communication skills, dependable, ethical, able to
maintain confidential information, enjoys a supporting role.
Answer phone, set-up and maintain alphanumeric files, copy
all tests for 30 faculty members, composed exams, inventory
of all assets and office supplies. In the absence of the
Department Chairs I expedited and facilitated student issues
that required immediate action. Assist student-run programs
such as Small Business Institute (SBI), Student Academic
Advisory Board (SAAB), Alpha Kappa Psi, and Direct Marketing
Association (DMA). Create flyers, programs, brochures and tri-
folds for Small Business Institute (SBI), Direct Marketing
Association (DMA), Honor Council, and a booklet as a special
gift for our graduating seniors. Assisted with Volunteer
Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, and supervised the
accounting and business tutors. Follow of the Commonwealth of
VA purchasing, state credit card and procurement policies.
Work closely with the purchasing office to ensure price
quotes, contracts and other related transactions. Fully
support the "Student First" value statement at CNU and
routinely went the extra mile to insure the best customer
service was provided - not only to the students but also the
all faculty members as well as the support staff. Demonstrate
a positive and professional attitude, treating everyone with
dignity and respect. On behalf of the Department Chair for
the Management and Marketing department, schedule meetings,
conference calls, and maintain calendars. Create routine
correspondence, documents, spreadsheets and reports. Assisted
a few professors in creating and printing their programs for
different functions, assisted two professors in formatting
there second-edition text books, and coordinated with the
Chair of the Marketing and Management Department on the
Eastern Bloc SBI Conference in the Fall of 2007 - from
finding the hotel, meeting with the event coordinators from
the hotels, menu selection, pricing, creating the web
brochure and served as the contact person for all the
professors attending the event.

Assisted CEO of Orphan Helpers by creating various layouts
and printed various items in English and Spanish, for Orphan
Helpers - a non-profit organization that Greg Garrett co-
founded to help orphaned children in Central America.
Conceived and created all ads for publication in Newsprint,
Magazine print and Cable TV. Scanned and adjusted photos
accordingly, scheduled print jobs with local printers.
Researched projects from conception to completion and
analyzed information and communication objectives, determined
the promotional and communication objectives be met through
graphic design, identifying design elements that would
enhance or interfere with the project, selected and
determined the effectiveness of typography for printing.
Created and prepared brochures, flyers, booklets, photographs
and illustrations. Evaluated designs, layout, color and other
productions processes that would ensure the quality the
customer desires. Scheduled mass mailings through a local
printing house. Evaluated designs with other designers for
the best possible course of action in regards to advertising
budget and the ability to stay within the advertising budget.
Researched the productions costs (e.i.: paper, colors,
bleeds, quantity, binding, folding, any other special
features that the project might require) and estimated
project costs and printing costs with local commercial
printers. Approved pre-press and press proofs. Worked
closely with the Daily Press Classified Staff and the Home
Hunter Staff, Homes & Land Staff, HR Monthly Staff,
Williamsburg Home Magazine Staff, etc. Downloaded, created
layout and printed on transfer paper articles that appeared
in the local paper, heat pressed these articles on aluminum
sheets to create plaques - a gift given to them by Greg
Garrett. Layout and printed on the heat press - mouse pads.
Maintained and ordered all printing supplies.
1999-2001 Imaging Tech, Daily Press
Started as a temporary employee through Apple One and became
a full time ad manager in May 2000. Compiled ads for a daily
run, trained to work on the TV Magazine, the Newport News
Parks and Recreation Instructional catalog and the Home
Hunter Magazine. Promoted to an Imaging Tech position in
February of 2001. Pulled ads off the FTP site, Adsend, Ad
Direct, Ad Transit. Worked on disk ads as well as scanning
camera ready ads on our Tecsa scanners; Trained to do press
checks and negative checks. 4 color process and pdf (portable
document file) ads to be emailed to outside customers.
Trouble-shooted with customers over the phone so that they
can have a successful transmission of their ads.
1997-1999 Sr. Graphic Designer, York Town Crier
Complete pagination on MAC format of the Poquoson Post front
page using CMYK color separation; printing first the color
plates and then post scripting and portable document filing
for faster transportation. Did full pagination of "by the
Bay" and "by the Bay Premium", "Yorktown Parks & Recreation",
"Ken Matthew's", "Ben Franklin", "Last Night", "Yorktown
Festival", ad creation for all three papers, classifieds for
the York Town Crier and The Poquoson Post. Also have
knowledge of manual paste up work.
EDUCATION
1995-1997 Associate of Applied Science Degree, Thomas Nelson Community
College.
Member of Phi Theta Kappa, held the chair for the Service Committee
-1996-1997 academic school year.
The Service Committee was elected number one nationally -1997.
Assisted in coordinating the Fat Tire Duathalon, helped raised $5,000
for Operation Smile.
Assisted with The Peninsula Aids Foundation, helped raised $4,000 for
the Aids Foundation.
