Information Systems - Immigrant Visa Information System (IVIS) and
Immigrant Visa Allocation System (IVAMS). The IVIS system assists Country
Posts in processing of immigration visas based on local necessities and
requirements established by the US State Department. The IVAMS system is an
Inventory System that deals with numbers of visas. This web-based
application authorizes users from the immigration services to submit visa
allocation requests via the Internet to the Visa office of the department
of State. Responsibilities include refreshing test and development
databases, creation of database objects for the development and test
environments, working with developers to tune SQL, utilization of Metalink
for research when troubleshooting issues. Upgraded an 8i Clear Case
Rational Requisite database to 9i on a Windows platform. Developed a
Standards of Procedure document for best practices.

Migrated 8i windows finance office acquisition management system database
to 10g and installed Grid in a test environment for testing and evaluation.
Kaiser Permanente (MD) Sep 2001- Oct 2006
Support of multiple Web Portal database Servers. The largest of which is
the KP Online a Comprehensive Health information system. This 450
concurrent transactional Member's website provides for employees, physician
and members to find reliable Kaiser Permanente approved health content as
well as services to help members and their families to stay healthy.
Supported a claims processing application that replicated data from the
primary online transaction database to the reporting database. Provided 24
by 7 support on a rotational basis with 5 team members for OLTP databases.
Maintained databases and trouble shot issues when they arose. Worked with
users to evaluate and determine requirements for systems. Installed setup
and configured Oracle software. Applied patches; provided technical
leadership for BMC Patrol roll out for monitoring via email and paging and
represented the Mid Atlantic information management group at biannual User
group meetings. I performed problem analysis through research via metalink
and OTN. Applied procedural and functional changes to supported databases
as part of the change management process. I oversaw ongoing system capacity
planning, forecasting and tuning. Provided support for standby database

Performed SQL tuning for Nextel's application server database triggers. The
scope included analysis tuning, testing and recommendations to improve
performance on the multiple triggers.
Reviewed the current database triggers and made recommendations on the
tuning of SQL.
For example identified and removed unnecessary full table scans, indexes
not created on certain columns and driving tables that were causing
degradation in performance. Assisted in the regression testing of the
database triggers recommendations.

by the development department.
Monitored and maintained nightly Backup and Recovery routines using crontab
and sqlbacktrack and evaluated a third party product, Shareplex as a

databases. Installed Oracle 7 server application tools. Migrated production
