Vice President, Information Technology 2000-present.
Promoted to lead the global IT function for the company managing a budget of $60M and 160 professionals.
Reengineered the IT organization into a well respected “powerhouse”, while reducing overall IT spend by 20% and
developed a global IT strategy linking corporate goals and objectives to strategic IT programs.
Development
• Globalized the systems development and delivery function across the enterprise, resulting in a more agile
organization and saving over $2M in synergies.
• Led all systems-related activities around a large acquisition in 2005 that doubled the company’s size. Replaced
duplicative systems, eliminated transition service agreements & leveraged synergies saving $20M in IT spend.
Business Process Reengineering
• Established a Business Process Improvement team to standardize enterprise-wide processes in supply chain,
manufacturing, corporate, R&D and commercial segments to lower costs & prepare for common ERP platform.
• Developed an enterprise systems strategy to replace current technology (e.g. BPCS, Baan & Infinium) with
leading edge ERP technology such as SAP and Oracle which are now under review.
• Developed and are implementing a common global systems strategy for Human Resources in 2009 - 2011,
utilizing Peoplesoft as the base platform that includes payroll, maintenance, & manager/employee self service.
Data Management
• Designed and resourced an enterprise-wide data management team in 2009 that includes data governance,
data foundation and data operations in order to standardize and centralize entry and maintenance of customer,
vendor and product data, leading to cleaner data and better information for decision making.
• Developed and are implementing a common Master Data Management system (Riversand) to standardize the
entry and maintenance of master data across the enterprise. This will allow master data to be entered or
updated once, and propagated across all company systems.
Operations / Governance
• Developed a comprehensive IT strategy driving common processes and systems, enterprise collaboration,
enterprise architecture, risk and cost optimization. This was accepted by Cytec as a blueprint for growth.
• Migrated data operations and help desk groups from multiple US and European locations to a Shared Services
environment located in Riga, Latvia.
• Developed and implemented a cost-effective strategy to manage Cytec’s personal computer environment that
includes hardware replacement and the management of client software resulting in annual savings of $1.5M.
Director, Application Development, Information Technology, 1998-2000.
Recruited to lead an application development team of 30 professionals with a $15M budget. Implemented a variety
of applications including BPCS, Baan, Cognos, Infinium, WERCS, SAP, Maximo & Portolan.
Development
• Implemented a common systems strategy across Specialty Chemicals and Engineered Materials using BPCS,
Baan and Cognos as key applications. These implementations resulted in approximately $50M in savings.
• Implemented a global enterprise-wide Material Safety Data Sheet system to enable timely product shipments.
• Standardized general ledger, accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and systems globally.
• Implemented a global data warehouse to improve timeliness, consistency and accuracy of company reports.
Governance
• Created a global project management office establishing a common methodology/tool set that improved
estimating, risk & issue management, reporting, deliverables creation and change management controls.
• Developed a quality assurance department responsible for testing all applications prior to production promotion
along with a regression testing facility that enhanced the ability to implement systems right the first time.
