2002 – 2008

Responsible for Operations and Supply Chain Management of private label OTC

and vitamin manufacturing for Leiner Health Products – Canadian Division.

Responsibilities included all purchasing, planning, manufacturing, packaging,

logistics, and QA/QC. U.S. responsibilities included development and

implementation of yearly $8mm capital budget.

Key Accomplishments

• Increased Canadian Operations EBITDA from $1.6MM to $10MM, through

operations and supply chain improvements, along with a successful sku

rationalization process.

• Re-negotiated supply contracts for purchased bulk products and packaging

materials to build Vita’s vendor/customer relationships.

• Increased weekly packaging output by 30%, utilizing Continuous Improvement,

Lean, and Six Sigma Processes.

• Lead consolidation of (2) East Coast Plants into West Coast Operations, including

facility design and upgrades, development and negotiation of design and build

contracts, and management of CAPEX cash flow process.

• Integrated OTC Drug acquisition into Leiner Health Products East Coast facilities

on time and on budget.

Torbitt & Castleman

Managed the Operations and Supply Chain for manufacturing of private label

nutrition bars, syrups, salsas, and jellies in multi-plants.

• Improved nutrition bar batch yields from 83% to 92%, by using continuous

improvement processes to improve weight control and identify necessary

equipment upgrades.

WEIDER NUTRITION INTERNATIONAL, Salt Lake City, UT

1995 - 2000

Vice President, Operations (Beverage & Bar Division)

Responsible for the Operations and Supply Chain Management of Weider

Nutrition’s sports beverages and nutritional bars produced in three separate

facilities. Total beverage and bar sales exceeded $50 million/year.

Key Accomplishments

• Reduced plant operating costs by $1.8 million in the 720,000 case/year bar plant

through increased line efficiencies, reduced material scrap, and controlled

inventories.

• Increased order fulfillments to 98% for distribution of high quality beverages and

bars, by Supply Chain Improvements including improving scheduling procedures

and vendor assisted inventory programs.

• Developed a Continuous Improvement training program and trained 300 WNI

employees.

Plant Manager, Beverage Division

Responsible for the construction, process and packaging equipment installation,

and start-up of a (2) production line, Nutritional Beverage facility. The project

included the shutdown of an existing facility and relocation of plant assets. The

project was completed on time, at expected budget, and without interruption of

business.

Key Accomplishments

• Increased service to sales from 70% to 98% cases ordered vs. cases shipped

through the design of a new Supply Chain.

• Negotiated new raw material and packaging vendor contracts to support the new

location of the business.

• Reduced quality defect rate from 3.5% to 0.1% through development of a HACCP

plan, Preventative Maintenance plan, and formal Sanitation procedures.

• Reduced labor cost per case from $0.38 to $0.24 through improved line

efficiencies, reduced changeover times, and equipment upgrades.

PERRIER GROUP OF AMERICA, Tampa, FL

1993 – 1995

Plant/Project Engineer – Zephyrhills Water

Managed an $11.7mm expansion project including a 150,000 square-foot

warehouse, a hi-speed PET bottling line, and an upgrade of the existing

processing equipment.

Key Accomplishments

• Completed “Design and Build” packages for process piping, building construction,

electrical, and mechanical installations; project was completed on time and within

budget.

• Improved line efficiencies through increased maintenance support.

WELCH FOODS, INC., Lawton, MI

1982 – 1993

Plant Engineer, Lawton Michigan Facility

• Managed all plant engineering and maintenance department functions.

• Engineering responsibilities included development of plant capital program from

idea development through project completion.
