EXPERIENCE:

ITW Dahti Seating, Rockford, Michigan February - September 2010

Dahti Seating, a division of Illinois Tool Works, designs, develops, and

manufactures seating components and products. Primarily, its focus is on

suspended seating that uses an elastomeric structural support providing

superior comfort over traditional seating constructions.

Product Engineer

. Developed a thermoplastic seating suspension for use in emerging

residential furniture market.

. Met with prospective customers to evaluate their needs.

. Coordinated with internal technical team on the design of various

product solutions.

. Using workshop tools, fabricated prototypes of products and

installation tools.

. Designed, performed, and documented product reliability testing.

SoundOff Signal, Hudsonville, Michigan January 2009 - January 2010

SoundOff Signal employs approximately 100 people in the design,

manufacture, and sale of high quality Warning and Signal products for

emergency and commercial vehicles such as police sirens, lightbars, school

bus marker lights, strobe lights, beacons, and flasher modules.

Mechanical Engineer - Contract

. Formed and led an engineering team focused on implementation of "quick

turn" projects that meet a unique customer, manufacturer, or market

demand.

. Designed lighting products and components comprised of plastic parts,

LEDs, electronics, castings, optics, sheet metal, and gaskets using

SolidWorks Premium 2009 for various domestic and international

customers including Blue Bird, Navistar, Thomas, Spartan Chassis,

municipalities, and numerous emergency vehicle outfitters.

. In first 10 weeks, designed and launched four new emergency vehicle

light products projected to provide in excess of $188,000/year

revenue, $125,000/year profit.

. Project Engineer for series of cost-reduced lighting projects yielding

an additional $371,000/year revenue and $145,000/year profit.

. Released 87 products with in excess of $430,000 annual revenue within

the first nine months.

. Executed the launch of the first product for SoundOff Signal's

subsidiary, Hilux LED Solutions.

Gentex Corporation, Zeeland, Michigan January 1998- December 2008

Gentex Corporation employs 2,200 people worldwide in the design,

development, manufacturing, and marketing of electro-optic products,

including automatic-dimming rearview mirrors for the automotive industry,

and fire protection products for the commercial building industry.

Mechanical Design Engineer

. Designed outside rearview mirrors for automotive manufacturers,

including, but not limited to, GM, Ford, Chrysler, BMW, Mercedes,

Hyundai, Honda, and Toyota, using CATIA V4 and V5.

. Aligned Gentex business goals of DFM, VA/VE, and margin on designs

that included plastic parts for injection molding, glass, LEDs,

electronics, optics, and connectors.

. Collaborated with R&D, Electrical Engineering, Advanced Materials

Scientists, suppliers, and Manufacturing to build a high-quality,

technically sensitive mirror that can perform consistently in all

weather conditions.

. Patented two designs involving lens-based turn signals behind

electrochromic rearview mirrors and a third patent involving a

supplemental blind spot mirror.

. Implemented an $8-$10k/tool savings (approximately $250,000/year) on

plastic injection molds.

. Provided inter-departmental leadership for Geometric Dimensioning and

Tolerancing (GD&T), maintaining a consistent ASME Y14.5M -1994 print

methodology corporate-wide.

. Developed a statistical process control structure for part

specifications, saving as much as $4,000 per part specification

drawing in layout costs.

. Implemented PS2 quality system, resulting in three new design

standards in the first month of use.
