areas of my professional career. I want to make a positive difference in

Job Responsibilities: I scheduled for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).

Physician's would forward paperwork/orders to me for their patients to be

scheduled for MRI's. I would also schedule appointments for patients via

phone calls directly from the patients. I answered incoming calls as well

as in-house calls. I worked the front desk area checking patients in for

(3) modalities, MRI, CT and Nuclear Medicine. When checking patients in I

confirmed all their personal information, updating

when necessary and verifying their insurance. I took payments and balanced

the drawer at the end of the day. Patients were informed of the privacy

practices (HIPAA), and signed the form. Any additional issues the patients

would have were documented and given to the technologist who would perform

the exam or test. I screened all MRI patients. When necessary I would

take patients to the x-ray department for orbits prior to their MRI. I

also helped the MRI tech as an assistant and backup when needed. I

instructed the patients on changing into exam gowns, assisted the tech with

moving patients on and off the scan table, placed appropriate coils on the

scan table as needed, and maintained knowledge of MRI safety standards. At

the end of the day I locked up, scanned the work area to make sure

everything was in order for the next day. Checked dressing rooms for used

gowns and disposed of them in the laundry bins. Made sure the MRI table

was set up for the first exam for the next day with the correct coil,

secured the scan room door and made sure it was locked.

November 2006 to May 2008

Author Self Employed

Bend, Oregon

I had the opportunity to follow a dream and write a book. I had a story to

tell about my experiences with Oregon wild horses, meeting celebrities such

as Bo Derek, William Shatner, Larry Mahan, Jeffrey Katzenberg of

DreamWorks, and the unbelievable story of the making of the movie "Spirit".

It was some what of a sabbatical as I wanted to take some time and re-

evaluate my career. The opportunity arose out of a blessing in disguise.

During this time I also cared for my parents who were in a very serious car

accident (head on collision, not their fault). Living in my RV I was able

to care for them while working on my book. They have both since recovered

and are living on their own. I had a book signing engagement in August

2009, at Wy'east Book Shoppe & Art Gallery in Welches, Oregon. After

accomplishing my dream I took time to think about what other avenues I

could take, and what would give me great satisfaction. I found that the

joy in helping others, sharing my knowledge, encouraging, showing by

example, and helping individuals to realize their own potential also helped

me to grow as a person. I found a source of contentment beyond anything I

could have imagined. Realizing this I re-entered the work force with

renewed enthusiasm.

January 2000 to November 2006

Patient Advocate

Central Oregon Radiology

1460 NE Medical Center Dr.

Bend, OR 97701

541-***-****

As a patient advocate for Central Oregon Radiology (CORA) and St. Charles

Medical Center, working in the MRI unit, my responsibilities were to

contact patients to confirm their appointments, explain preps if

applicable, answer any questions they may have regarding their exam, and

help them to feel comfortable about the test, and to know what to expect.

I was required to do data entry, work with MRI nurses to coordinate in-

patient exams when needed, check patients in, and screen them prior to

their exams, then report to the technologist. I also assisted the MRI

techs by instructing patients on changing into exam gowns, and keeping the

area organized and ready for the next patient. Later CORA put into place a

new department at their clinic for specifically Patient Advocates, and I

was one of four individuals selected. Every patient scheduled for the

clinic and all outside facilities (where the radiologist were contracted

to read), were contacted by our department to confirm appointments, give

directions, go over preps when necessary, basically answering questions and

providing them with the information they needed regarding their exams.

During my employment my parents were in a very serious car accident (head

on collision), which left my father needing around the clock care. To

avoid a nursing home, once he was released from the hospital I cared for

both parents in my home for about nine months until they were able to

return to their own home. Soon after, my mother had a stroke, and that's

when I decided to take some time to write my book about Oregon wild horses,

and help my parents in their recovery.

September 1998 to January 2000

Patient Representative

Lifeline Ambulance Service

915 Hinman Street

Prescott, AZ 86305

888-***-****, 520-***-****

Due to divorce I moved to Arizona. As a patient representative with

Lifeline, my duties included contacting patients regarding their accounts,

note conversation and any additional information on the patient's account.

I was responsible for data entry regarding collection notes, calling on

insurance companies for patient coverage information. Answered questions

and handled complaints. My reason for leaving was that I relocated back to

Bend, Oregon after the issues regarding my divorce were resolved.

1987 to 1998

Self Employed Rancher

Bend, Oregon

Me and my spouse worked in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management

(BLM), by adopting, training, and developing a breeding program in

captivity, of the Oregon wild horses, specifically Kiger mustangs. With

other horse enthusiasts I helped start the first Kiger horse registry. I

traveled the country to help in clinics to educate the public about the

BLM's wild horse management program while also promoting the registry. One

of the Kiger horses I raised eventually became the model for DreamWorks

animated movie, "Spirit." I was fortunate to meet with one of the partners

of DreamWorks, Jeffrey Katzenberg during the negotiations when he and his

crew visited the ranch. Ultimately divorce necessitated a move to Arizona.
