SUMMARY

Handling Specialist for the Redesigned Solid Rocket Motors (RSRM), for

Alliant Tech (ATK) at Promontory Utah. Job duties consist of writing move

sheet planning for critical moves. Reviewing move configurations and

tooling blue prints. Verifying the correct lifting configurations.

Identifies weight test and NDT certifications for all handling equipment

before a move can proceed. Oversees the safe move of all critical space

hardware and tooling. Provides the proficiency testing and NASA licensing

of the move crews such as move director, crane operator, forklift operator,

tagline\spotter personal and other NASA specialized move equipment as

required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

ATK Launch Systems, Promontory, Utah Handling Engineering\Specialist (06/97

to 10/09)

Overseen all aspects of the handling operations in the Insulation and

Component work center. This included the creation of the move instructions

not only for RSRM case hardware and other NASA critical hardware but also

for the Strategic programs such as Castor 4, 30, and 120, Minuteman and

Peace keeper (PK) motors and hardware. Chaired Handling Review Teams (HRT)

and Handling Evaluation Teams (HET) for all first time moves and changes to

existing moves and presented findings and changes to management. Involved

in team and continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts such as

implementing elements of TPS (Toyota Production System) for ATK called PES

(Production Enterprise System).

action problem solving and tooling design.

NASA, Air Force and Navy programs. Set time standards for operations

and implemented into the shop traveler \ planning. Issued work order

numbers to planning, reviewed processes and recommended process flow

improvements' for streamlining and cost reductions of processes being

audited.

All aspects of the assembly, painting, NBR rubber and EPDM carbon

layup and vacuum bagging, handling, autoclaving and shipping of the

Solid Rocket Motors for the Space Shuttle and also the Strategic Peace

Keeper Motor. This includes the stacking and assembly of empty, inert

and live motors for the Space Shuttle at Red Stone Arsenal in

Huntsville Alabama for testing and qualifying, and the Kennedy Space

Center in Florida for space shuttle flights.
