OBJECTIVE
I wish to secure a Safety Manager position, where my experience and
expertise will benefit a respected company that can utilize all of my
acquired skills and experiences.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
2008 - Present: Project Safety Manager for Lauren Engineers & Constructors
Inc where my duties and responsibilities include overseeing certification
and safety training for new hires, employees and supervision at various
projects in the United States. Lead, mentor and positively influence the
Safety Department staff, employees and supervisors with positive
reinforcement and out of the box thinking to review and analyze all aspects
of the different job specifications in order to identify all actual and
potential safety hazards, identify the best hazard abatement procedures,
and ensure compliance to all OSHA and EPA standards and best practices
policies. Investigate, analyze, report and give corrective actions for any
accidents, injuries, near - misses, equipment and property damages.
Prepare and process periodic management reports on the effectiveness of the
project's safety program and implementing safety policies and protocols and
developing strategies to drive the focus on safety.
2006 - 2008: Safety Manager/Trainer for SW&B where my duties and
responsibilities included certification and safety training for new hires,
employees and supervision at various sites and projects throughout the
United States. Conduct Drug and Alcohol screenings. Prepare and process
periodic management reports on the effectiveness of the project's safety
program. Mentor and positively influence employees with positive
reinforcement and out of the box thinking to review and analyze all aspects
of the different job specifications in order to identify all actual and
potential safety hazards, identify the best hazard abatement procedures,
and ensure compliance to all OSHA standards and best practices policies.
Assist in implementing safety policies and protocols. Assist in developing
strategies to drive the focus on safety.
1996-2006: Form Carpenter, Scaffold Builder, Rod Buster, Equipment
Operator with foreman and general foreman experience for various companies
throughout the United States where my duties and responsibilities included
reading plans, laying out projects, building forms and pouring concrete.
Lead and assisted others in the erecting and dismantling of scaffolds.
Conduct scaffold inspections. Signal equipment operators to facilitate
alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery, equipment and materials.
Maintain a safe and clean work environment and maintain a high level of
safety consciousness. During this time, I served on various safety
committees in many different plants and projects. Part of my
responsibilities as a supervisor was to conduct weekly safety audits.
1996-2006: Paper maker for International Paper where my duties and
responsibilities were to make paper and maintain a safe and clean work
environment and maintain a high level of safety consciousness.
1989 - 1993: Four years documented outstanding service in the United
States Army, as a member of the 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment,
where I received years of extensive safety training. Well experienced with
complex decision making necessary to achieve safety goals by mentoring and
maximizing team effort. As a Team Leader, it was my responsibility to
ensure all soldiers were trained in all aspects of safety whether on duty
or off duty.
