HUMAN RESOURCE DIRECTOR

Manage entire HR function for ductile pipe manufacturing plant with 375

employees, including 310 hourly employees represented by 4 unions,

Steelworkers, Machinists, Electrical and Boilermakers. Direct all HR

activities including employee/labor relations, union contract

administration, change management, job descriptions, training and

development, drug testing, hourly attendance program and FMLA compliance,

staffing and recruitment, performance management, salary administration and

legal issues and compliance.

. Changed hourly hiring process resulting in higher quality employees

with increased performance levels and less absenteeism.

. Leading VPP steering team to achieve VPP Star Status; member of Safety

Committee

. Involved in Lean/Kaizen events resulting in continuous improvement of

the Human Resource function for the Syngenta Cold Creek site and the

Process Technical Development Department, an agricultural chemical

Instrumental in moving hourly from separate benefit plans to corporate plan

Prepare and implement EEO/AAP and safety program, reports and plans.

1995-1998

phosphates and Saflex chemical manufacturer with 500 employees of which 425

were unionized hourly represented by OCAW and the Teamsters unions.

attendance program for union employees. Represent Solutia as participant

on the Southeastern Michigan Industrial Arbitration Board.

Secure the viability of the site through the recruiting, training,

qualified applicants for hourly employment. Provide support of the

Responsible for daily contract administration for two unionized groups,

production/maintenance and office/clerical, with 1,100 members; handled all

second step grievances and predischarge hearings

Participated in contract negotiations with United Steelworkers representing

production and office/technical employees.

Administered union absentee and overtime violation programs

Implemented and facilitated supervisory training programs which resulted in

more consistent application of the union contacts
