Work History
Edelweiss Boats - Milwaukee, WI
Deck-hand - April 2010 - Current
Duties included everything involved with accurate boating operations.
Preparing for departure included checking the oils, turning on the engine,
cleaning the vessel, going over any necessary duties and security updates
with the crew, going over any needed drills from fire to man over board,
putting the vessel in gear, singling up, and putting down the gang-plank.
While boarding the vessel it was important to keep an accurate tally of all
persons on board while keeping an eye out for any possible security
concerns. While underway duties included general clean up and maintenance
of the vessel, continuing to provide security for both the vessel and the
passengers, as Senior Deck-hand my duties also included keeping accurate
logs of passengers, crew, and any other necessary item in line with Coast
Guard regulations, driving the vessel if needed, insuring the Captain's
orders were accurately handed to the correct deck-hand, and ensuring proper
boating procedure and operations. While docking the vessel and unloading
the passengers duties included docking with safety for the vessel and
passengers in mind, tying up the vessel if needed, setting down the gang-
plank, and ensuring all passengers exit the vessel safely and securely.
After all passengers had exited the duties included security sweeps of the
boat to ensure all passengers and items had exited the vessel, cleaning the
vessel, and preparing for the next run.
