Business System Technology & Medical Coding

This 1296 hour instructor lead course, with extensive homework assignments, in the medical

field trained me for a career in Business System Technology & Medical Coding. The

curriculum in this one year course prepared me to review health records and assign numeric

codes to diagnoses and procedures. This training provided me with the knowledge to track

patient care and reimbursement of insurance claims. In addition, the concentrated curriculum

provided me with extensive knowledge of medical office operations, coding and billing.

Interaction with the classroom instructor and hands-on use of the personal computer provided in-

depth overview of the health care environment, office policies and procedures, medical records

management, collections and accounts receivable, and third party billing. This course provided

instruction for Office Management of the medical facility. Experience and training in software;

such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, and Outlook was obtained. Through this

course, I was provided a working knowledge of medical terminology and database applications

used in the medical profession. Along with the Medical Coding & Health Information

Technician diploma, I also earned a General Office Assistant certificate and an Information

Processing Support certificate.

Industrial work in production setting where I analyzed components for correctness and visual

defects while adjusting machinery methods to produce products that met customer specifications.

Worked closely with department manager and quality control to identify and correct defect root
