Manufacturing Tool Engineer
- Designed, detailed and purchased tooling and fixtures to be used in
the coreroom and foundry for grey iron, malleable iron and aluminum
castings. Fixtures worked on include definners, work holding fixtures
and handling fixtures.
- Followed up on tool builds at the vendor and in the pattern shop by
communicating with pattern makers and machinists.
- Supported manufacturing and continuous improvement by modifying
tooling and fixture designs to improve safety, ergonomics and quality.
- Contributed to cost savings by modifying tooling. For example, I
designed blocks to take up space in a glue tank to reduce the usage of
paste.
- Designed adjustments into tooling to accommodate more than one part.
- Used error-proofing to detect and reject flaws in order to reduce
scrap and improve quality.
- Had three safety suggestions implemented.
- Performed reverse engineering.
- Selected components to be used such as bearings, springs, belts,
fittings, hoses, piping, hinges, bushings and shafts.
- Utilized Unigraphics (UG NX3) solid modeling and drafting software and
helped other engineers with UG.
- Limited Teamcenter experience.
- Created 3-D solid models from 2-D drawings.
- Used 3-D modeling to check for clearances.
- Utilized Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
