WORK EXPERIENCE

2009-2010

Regional Environmental Health and Safety Manager, West Coast, C&S Wholesale

Grocers, Stockton, CA.

Responsible for 5 west coast locations in California and Hawaii. Implement

all safety initiatives and programs as required by corporate offices on the

East Coast. Union environment that operates 24 hours, 7 days. Establish

relationships with human resources and operations in order to drive change

with regard to the safety of the employees. Create a culture of ownership

and accountability through the development of employee driven safety

committees. Create Injury and Illness Prevention Programs for all

facilities. Manage workers compensation claims for all locations and work

with claims managers to develop plans for each case in order to lessen the

burden to the company. Work with local Cal/OSHA compliance officers on

multiple occasions to minimize the findings at C&S facilities. Create a

supervisor training program that helps them to embrace the need for change

and how they are an integral part of that change. Started with the region

ending the year with an OSHA incident rate of 19.6, currently the region is

at 10.8.

2006-2009

General Manager, Modern Pacific, So. San Francisco, CA.

Manage commercial window coverings business from bid process to

installation and customer service. Full charge of six union installers to

finish more than $1.5MM of projects in '07. Write programs for safety,

human resources, and sales processes. Find leads, get documentation,

perform take offs, price jobs, and contact contractors to sell job. $300k

worth of sales in first six months of actively pursuing additional

business. Work extensively with Sage-Master Builder program to streamline

proposal process and ease the burden on bookkeeping and accounting staff.

Establish relationships with representatives from general contractors in

the area to foster trust in our abilities to provide superior products and

service.

2001-2006

Manager of Safety, The Wine Group, Ripon, CA.

Develop and manage all aspects of the safety program for the corporation

and all of its assets. Responsible for 12 locations located in California

and New York. Create a safety culture by developing programs that

individuals understand and embrace. Establish monthly safety training for

350 union members at the Franzia winery and provide professional input in

the development of quality training programs at all locations. Develop

employee driven safety committees at all locations. Assist CEO with

creating the safety mission statement to guide all aspects of the corporate

safety program. Create Injury and Illness Prevention Programs for all

facilities. Design annual safety themes complete with company wide multi-

media launches at multiple locations. Establish corporate recognition and

incentive programs that focus on company goals as well as individual

accomplishments. Develop and manage annual budget for corporate safety

program including training resources and incentive programs. Foster

relationships with Cal/OSHA representatives as well as workers compensation

insurance carriers in order to protect the assets of the company.

Negotiate with OSHA compliance officers to minimize findings at company

facilities. Work closely with environmental manager on development of PSM

and RMP programs for anhydrous ammonia as well as sulfur dioxide. Create

new confined space entry and lock out programs. Maintain record keeping

for all locations and create monthly reports for executive board. Started

with experience modification rate of 194 ended 05 with a projected rate of

112. Decreased workers compensation spending by 1.5 million dollars.

Decreased OSHA incident rate from 19 in 2001 to 5.4 in 2005 where the

industry average is 8.8.

1998 -2001

Safety Supervisor, Georgia-Pacific, Packaging Division, Modesto, CA.

Manage all aspects of the union facility safety program; Manage all

environmental requirements for the plant; Conduct all OSHA mandated

training; Maintain record keeping for all areas of safety and environmental

programs; Develop new lock out - tag out procedures for all equipment;

Create new confined space program for facility; Head safety core committee

and all sub-committees; responsible for setting safety spending budget and

developing positive recognition programs; Develop Illness and Injury

Prevention Plan (IIPP) for plant; Set plant record for most consecutive

days accident free at 204; Organized all plant safety luncheons for

achieving set goals; Develop and administrate two day all plant safety

training shut down; Keep track of OIR for facility; Monitor workers

compensation spending; Maintain working relationship with workers

compensation claims representatives; Develop standard operating procedures

for all safety and environmental related tasks; Coordinate Dupont Safety

Training Observation Program (STOP) including procurement of program,

training, and monitoring of observations; Participate on division wide

with hourly crews in order to foster communication between management and

union.

1998-1999

Establish training needs and institute computerized courses for multiple

mechanical skill levels; Hold all crew meetings to foster unity in the

department; Supervise mechanics; Schedule shift coverage and work orders

for maintenance crew; Conflict resolution within crew as well as union

grievances between crew and management; Complete preventative maintenance

strategies and implement yearly schedule for inspection on all pieces of

equipment; CMMS facilitator (purchasing, work order, vendor performance,

inventory tracking, and statistical preventative maintenance); Setup and

maintain bar code system for spare parts inventory; Travel to other plants

Supervise large projects (install conveyor turntable at banders, install

new pre heater at corrugator); Create and monitor budgets for inventory,

Maintenance Department, and safety program; Produce reports for inventory

and work orders; Conduct all plant lock out - tag out training to comply

with OSHA requirements; Work with local vendor on guarding folding rail

sections of two flexo folder gluers, and anilox roll doors on all finishing

machines; Work with local vendor to develop new lock out - tag out

documentation and procedures for all equipment in the facility; Conduct

monthly plant wide Safety Committee meetings; Work with management team to

create the current safety training plan, and safety incentives program.
