Experience
College Administration
Bangalore, India. Lived on the campus of a graduate leadership school.
Served as student advisor and liason. Organized activities, social events
and service projects. Worked in the office of the dean organizing files
and developing a computer-based system of records for the college. I also
taught several courses as an adjunct faculty member.
Colombo, Sri Lanka. Lived on the campus of a Bible college.
Assisted the office in adopting general accounting procedures and
computerizing student records. Developed a database for students and
prospective students for the school registrar in Sinhala medium. Served as
student counselor and job placement advisor. Determined with the executive
board appropriate punishment for students failing to abide by college
behavioral policies; and followed up with rehabilitation. Also taught two
courses per semester.
Travel Presentations
Traveled for two years in all 50 states holding meetings with non-profit
groups, clubs, churches and business in order to raise funds and recruit
individuals for projects in Southern Asia. I raised more than 1 million
dollars for my personal expenses and project funds which included
buildings, libraries and office equipment for several colleges. I also
recruited more than 50 teams to visit Southern Asia and experience the
culture and work of education overseas. I have 25 years of public speaking
experience and use of audio/visual equipment. I am energetic and use humor
and inspiring stories gained from my experience to communicate to students.
Study/Debate
University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. Studied Buddhist Philosophy for three
years with Buddhist Monks. I have completed more than 50 hours of classes
in Sinhala medium. I was also involved with debate and apologetics as an
extracurricular activity. I debated each week with monks visiting from
various temples around Sri Lanka. I was somewhat of a novelty as the only
non-monk involved in the exercizes.
Teaching
Buddhist Temples, Sri Lanka. I developed a curriculum to teach English to
young monks. I traveled to remote village temples every full moon holiday.
I have taught in more than 85 Buddhist temples throughout Sri Lanka.
Assembly of God Bible College, Sri Lanka. I served as adjunct faculty
teaching Bible courses including Apologetics, Missions, Major Prophets, New
Testament Survey, and various short seminar-style classes.
Southern Asia Bible College, Bangalore, India. I taught Pauline Epistles
to the graduate classes (M.Div.) as well as served as chapperone for
graduating class trip.
Leadership
Colombo, Sri Lanka. Served as mentor and advisor for pastors in nine
regions throughout Sri Lanka. I was responsible for organizing, funding and
conducting national gatherings for Sri Lankan pastors, youth and young
adults, including Leadership Retreats, Kid's Camp, Family Camps and
Conferences. I also organized and hosted a cultural exchange for more than
50 teams of people who visited Sri Lanka from the U.S.
Special Skills
Languages
Proficient in Sinhala (Written script and conversational), German.
Basic knowledge of ancient Pali, Koine Greek, Sanskrit.
Limited vocabulary in Hindi, Tamil.
Computer
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excell, Powerpoint,
Quicken, Photoshop CS4, Adobe Premier Video, HTML Web Authoring. I also
was responsible for investigating computers for inappropriate website
viewing as a counselor.
Hobbies
Fine woodworking, building cedar strip canoes, gemstone collecting,
writing.
