Executive Director / Manager / Trainer
Over twenty years experience as an executive director in fast-paced
business environments. I have been responsible for all aspects of
management and business operations. As the chief on - site administrator,
my responsibilities have involved supervision of 50 to 90 person staffs,
management of budgets with revenues and expenditures in excess of $9.5
million annually, organizational planning and development, information
technology services (managing four computer networks with over 80 work-
sites), purchasing, contracting, recruitment, policy administration, and
property/facilities management. As the corporate officer in charge of
programs and policy development, I have coordinated plans to initiate and
implement programs under state and local laws and regulations.
Serving on multiple public boards, I effectively coordinate committees and
have vast experience in fundraising, negotiations, as well as, project and
asset management for organizations. I have consistently created excess
revenue situations for corporations. I have created strong teams and
enjoyable work environments, allowing employees to create quality results
while managing projects and meeting deadlines. In project development and
completion, I supervised a $ 5.8 million building project that was
constructed within budget and established timelines.
Over nine years experience as a logistics, property, and procurement
program manager for the federal government. Supervised project management,
purchasing, budgetary, transportation, construction, property, and
facilities activities for an organization of 1800 persons. Management of
the 4.5 million dollar annual budget included purchase and implementation
of computer systems. Facilities manager for twenty-five buildings and
associated properties.
Management and Operations Analyst / Business Operations Experience
Owned and operated a successful small business consulting firm assisting
businesses in marketing, sales, budgeting, policy reviews, grant
applications, contract coordination and implementation, inventory
systems/audit procedures, quality control, and information technology
development.
In the federal government, served as the equal opportunity and diversity
policy advisor to the chief executive officer for a 76,000-person
organization. Managed the protocol division, working closely with
congressional staff and other government departments on policy issues.
Conducted seminars and small group facilitations on team building, stress
management, and organizational effectiveness. Responsible for organizing
and coordinating special corporate events, congressional visits, and
executive seminars. Four years experience as an inventory systems analyst
for operations teams required to computerize inventory procedures.
Developed a system to successfully control millions of dollars in property
assets that received multiple awards and was adopted by the Department of
Defense internationally.
Military aviator operations officer with both rotary and fixed wing
experience in domestic and international environments, overseeing airport
operations.

Educational Policy Consultant
Served as an independent educational policy consultant contracted with the
Education Commission of the States, a non-profit, interstate policy
consortium representing forty-eight states, advising governors,
legislators, state chief school officers and other interested parties on
educational policy issues. My work there included supplying constituents
with information on developments across the country on charter schools,
accreditation, accountability, curriculum, graduation requirements, and
school discipline policy, as well as, general educational statistical
information.
Experience as a Management Trainer
Recently served as a trainer and program designer for an energy industry
training company. This position entailed construction of training programs
for industry leaders on a myriad of energy topics, including generation,
transmission and distribution, nuclear and renewable energy, and workforce
management. Throughout my career, I have instructed numerous courses in
management, business, and information technology at the junior and senior
college level.
Teaching has always been extremely rewarding to me, and students, peers,
and supervisors have positively recognized my instructional abilities. I
have several years experience teaching at the secondary level and over ten
years teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Education / Personal
Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of
Southern California, Los Angeles. Completed course work at the doctorate
level in educational policy and administration, University of Colorado.
Bachelor of Arts, Political Science, degree from Knox College, Galesburg,
Illinois. Father of two children and in excellent health. My
communication and leadership skills are excellent. I am a fast learner and
adapt well to challenging situations and new environments. Strong computer
skills in networking, project management, word processing, data base
management and spread sheeting applications software.
