Objective To obtain employment as a Rayonier Performance Fibers
Maintenance Planner in the Fernandina Beach Mill. My
experience, hard working attitude and adaptability, allow
me to fill a critical role in achieving operational
excellence. Naval service has provided me with many
different experiences in an industrial environment and the
training I received will go a long way in safety and
technical excellence. I look forward to joining the team.
Work
Experience United States Navy (09/29/1999 - 07/28/2009)
Electronics Technician Second Class (E-5)
Security Clearance - Secret
USS John F. Kennedy
NAS Key West
USS Enterprise
Duties:
After completing Navy Technical Core training for
electronics I was stationed at NS Mayport on the USS John
F. Kennedy CV-67 as an electronics technician for the air
search radar AN/SPS-49.
This posting consisted of preventative and corrective
maintenance on electronics to include 440V, 3 phase power,
high voltage klystron tube, fiber optics, gravity fed
distilled water electronic cooling systems, alignment
procedures, assemblies and sub-assemblies, as well as
auxiliary systems and working aloft.
Use of various electronic test equipment, hand tools,
technical manuals and drawings to complete tasks and
repairs.
I used a computer maintenance management system (CMMS) to
plan, schedule and manage maintenance specifications,
called SKED, and for writing and tracking work orders and
work histories for reliability and improve efficiency
within my work center and division called OMMS-NG.
I held a position in the ships MSC (maintenance support
center), providing support to techs and mechanics that
needed information on ordering parts or finding technical
manuals, along with updating the ships digital authorized
parts list called the COSAL (coordinated shipboard
allowance list).
Later I used what I learned to train my division up to
speed and pass a major inspection with flying colors
during two ESRA's (industrial rehabilitation environment).
I became the work center supervisor responsible for four
radar systems, several auxiliary systems, and eight
personnel where I planned, scheduled and reported on
maintenance, ordered parts and held training.
I served on two war time cruises, Operation Enduring
Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
After serving on the USS JFK I transferred to NAS Key West
as a micro miniature (2M) repair technician, responsible
for repairing sub-assembly circuits and circuit boards,
installing new wire and soldering replacement parts.
I was also doing corrective and preventative maintenance
scheduling using SKED (CMMS) but instead of radars it was
UHF/VHF communications systems, FM portable radios, PA
systems, and the ASOS weather system, (Automated Surface
Observation System) which had to be practically rebuilt
from the ground up due to lack of attention prior to my
arrival.
Collateral duties included technical publication officer,
test equipment officer, and the divisional supply officer.
I have assisted the Naval Oceanographic Office with
upgrades and installs of the ASOS, improving safety of
flight and meeting federal regulations for the airfield.
As the divisional supply officer I was responsible for
requisitions, tracking, and acquiring items through web
based on-line systems, using a database I created on MS
Excel to maintain accurate and up-to-date information and
inventory.
Also, I created a library for the technical publications
and another for test equipment improving inventory control
and efficiency using MS Word.
OSHA identified me through the 'Voluntary Protection
Program' inspection team as a valued and key member of the
divisions and Air Stations safety culture, contributing to
NAS Key West being the first Air Station to obtain a 'Star
Status'.
Next I was assigned to the USS Enterprise CVN-65 for my
final year of service. Here I was again a work center
supervisor for a communications center, planning,
scheduling and reporting maintenance activity during a dry
dock in an industrial environment.
As a senior second class petty officer my primary duty was
the training of junior personnel within the division on
the maintenance management system (CMMS). Other
collateral duties were the divisional safety officer and
the departmental electrical safety manager.
Throughout my 10yr Navy career I have been trained in and
trained others in: general safety; MSDS and hazardous
material use, storage and disposal; quality assurance;
damage control; sensitive information control; risk
management; leadership and security.
I have met Navy qualifications for adult CPR; 3M
maintenance program (CMMS); damage control; fire fighting;
electronic cooling systems; POOW (petty officer of the
watch) and OOD (officer of the deck).
I have taken part in major inspections from the Department
of the Navy and OSHA as the work center supervisor and
have passed them all. I have showed continuous
improvement to the point that I became 'the guy to ask'
about CMMS related questions.
During my time I earned several awards, accommodations and
letters of appreciation and was separated with an
Honorable Discharge.
