Maintaining communication with multiple similar-interest housing agencies,
drafting an academic curriculum, screening applicants for eligibility,

diverse groups, practicing diplomacy, counseling applicants, and submitting
documentation to funding sources are similar to tasks charged to your next

Objective: This contract position is under the Weatherization Assistance
Program (W.A.P.) division of a regional community action agency. A Project

home improvement work orders to make a home more energy efficient. To
reach this goal, I would dispatch local contract companies, request repair

which funding sources provided services will be paid, and regularly
communicate with applicants, contractors, and program administration. This
position also involves researching involvement of previous applicants to

other non-profit organizations regarding home repair and home energy
efficiency. This position became available as a result of additional
program funding.

In-Home Counselor August 2009 - January 2010
Family Impact, Incorporated 15-20 hours per week
861 Glenrock Road #135 Salary:
Norfolk, VA 23502 Rosa Montgomery- Direct manager,
Tierra Belgrove-Office manager
Objective: An In Home Counselor is demanding in that to achieve goals for
this program, staff must be confident in their ability to interpret,
review, and apply service plans drafted by the resident physician,
contribute to further reports of clients' behavior patterns, and solicit a
consensus among those who have less input on which to base a decision.
Such talent became required while in conferencing and discussing treatment
plan revisions. This temporary position included visiting clients at their
residences to make practical application of service plans, document
clients' medication use, prepare intervention exercises such as
conferences, written and verbal exercises, and submission of daily reports
and monthly reports via Sharenote.Com. Progress notes were submitted in an
approved B.I.R.P. (Behavior Intervention Response Plan) format. I
regularly managed three clients per week and was required to make referrals
for potential clients who may have met program criteria. This position was
mostly spent in clients' homes or schools conducting sessions/interventions
two or three times per week with client and parent or guardian. Staff met
once per week for regular staff meetings and once per week for audit of
client records.
Accomplishments & Transferrable Skills: Multiple training to maintain
Medicaid licensure for the organization such as Treatment Plan Writing,
Personal Defense, CPR and First Aid, and other mandatory employee training
to meet minimal criteria for state of Virginia's QMHP (Qualified Mental
Health Professional) entitlement, and continued opportunities to apply
experience from employment as a Residential Counselor for Alternative
Behavior Services, Pines-Crawford Campus

position
Norfolk Public Schools (Lafayette 50 hours per week
Winona Middle Sch.)
800 E. City Hall Avenue Salary:
(Administrative address)
Norfolk, VA 23510 Human Resources 757-***-****
Objective: A position instructing English Composition and American
Literature was one of my ultimate goals as an undergraduate. As a
substitute teacher for multiple years (as an enrolled and a withdrawn
student) I was granted the exposure to the entire Norfolk Public School
system. While substituting, I worked on an on-call basis three to five
days per week charged with the task of facilitating courses using lesson
plans and additional instructional supplies. However, under a contract
position, I met the challenge to respond to district, local, and state
education guidelines involving developing lesson plans, issuing and
responding to results of student progress, or lack of thereof. As well as
regular conferences with Communication Skills Department staff, I attended
weekly parent-teacher conferences, faculty conferences, completed
additional courses towards earning Professional Development credits, as
well as attended regular meetings with core subject instructors. This
position was held under terms of a Provisional Contract which required
continued academic effort and further training. Other tasks include:
submitting parent contact logs, weekly submission of lesson plans for
regular and honor level course work, daily posting of class and homework
assignments and their evaluations on Esembler/Norfolk Public School
website, hall/cafeteria monitoring, and excessive at-home work follow up.
Accomplishments & Transferrable Skills: Successful and consistent
employment under Norfolk Public School system, opportunity to teach African-
American Literature under Gifted Resources Program, successful application
of Bachelor's Degree in English-Interdisciplinary Studies, and personal
satisfaction of career achievement. Transferrable skills relate to group
facilitation, curriculum development, consumer management using computer
programs, developing course material, and record management.
Eligibility Specialist September 2006 - August 2007
Suffolk Redevelopment & Housing 40 hours per week
Authority
530 E. Pinner Street Salary:
Suffolk, VA 23434 Section 8 Director Keva Newsome
Objective: A suspicious and investigative tendency made this position
exciting because there were many chances at manipulation on the part of all
involved parties such as tenants, applicants, landlords, and property
management companies. The position was easy to negotiate due to the
availability and regular reference of Housing and Urban Development
(H.U.D.) policies. Tasks of this position involve screening registered
applicants for suitability to program criteria for rental assistance,
verify applicant representations provided during interview, and determining
subsidy using a calculation process and presenting estimates to Section 8
Housing Choice Voucher program director for approval.
Accomplishments & Transferrable Skills: Completion of multiple HUD (Nan
McKay) sponsored training in the interest of fair and safe housing laws,
and expanded awareness of home subsidy programs
