Durham School Services has over 50 years experience in student
transportation and delivers more than 275,000 students to school each day
in more than 250 school districts. It is the second largest contract
student transportation provider with locations in 18 states and 10,000
employees.
. Managed and administered company employee benefit plans including
medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and
dismemberment, and term-life insurance plans, Section 125 plan, and
multiple 401(k) plans and non qualified plans (SERP). Administered all
plans in accordance with insurance contract requirements, plan document
requirements, ERISA, federal and state law and company policy. Propose
and implement processes to eliminate or minimize company's exposure to
employee benefit liability losses.
. Participate in renewal activities, including preparation of benefits
comparisons, cost and services of alternative plans. Prepare employee
communication materials for all employer sponsored plans. Consistently

. Prepared 5500 for Section 125 Plan. Managed annual audits for six (6)

retirement plans for six (6) company acquisitions. Successfully
completed all outstanding qualified plan audits that were not performed
by prior companies, which included preparation of Voluntary Fund
Correction Program (VFCP) calculations as required.
. Responsible for the conversion of five (5) 401(k) plans to company record
keeper as required by ERISA regulations - control group testing.
Established two (2) new 401(k) plans for newly created company as a
result of ownership changes.
. Remit salary deferrals to record keeper timely. Calculate and prepare
annual employer match and profit sharing contributions for multiple
401(k) plans. Reviewed allocations, non-discrimination and compliance
testing requirements and communicated necessary changes.
. Implement large-scale projects with annual open enrollments and 401(k)
plan data/record keeper conversions. Prepare Summary Annual Reports.
. Served as liaison between employees and the company's insurance carriers,
record keeper and broker to ensure efficient information flow and problem

working partnerships. Ensured payment of invoices for multiple 401(k)
plans.
. Worked directly with company's ERISA attorney firm on preparation of all
plan documents, amendments, and plan resolutions. Responsible for
reviewing for accuracy and completeness.
. Prepare QSLOB statements. Work with TPA on preparation of annual and
quarterly fund performance reports. Member of Administrative Benefits
Committee. Prepare committee minutes for reporting and recordkeeping
