WORK EXPERIENCE

Measured Progress

Senior Assessment Evaluator- Measured Progress is a company employed

by several states (including Maine, Massachusetts, Kentucky, and New

Mexico), which evaluates student responses in statewide standardized-

testing. The outcome of these evaluations directly influences the

amount of federal funding the states' educational systems receive. In

this project, I worked specifically for the state of Kentucky,

operating as the first level of quality assurance for fourth grade

reading comprehension. I managed anywhere from five to eleven

individuals daily, ensuring that they had proper and accurate

evaluations.

Quality Assurance Coordinator- In this position, I was in charge

of teaching two groups of people Arts and Humanities area content, and

how to appropriately and accurately score student open response

questions for the CATS standardized testing of KY. I was also

responsible for accurately scoring myself, handling conflicts between

scorers, and being one of the area "experts" in the subject. This

position dealt mainly with in interpersonal interactions and training.

St. Joseph Children's Home

Residential Counselor- In this position, I worked with at-risk

children who had been physically, sexually, or emotionally abused or

neglected. The goal of this position is to help acclimate each child

to the living environment and aid them in developing and utilizing

coping skills to manage their emotional and behavioral problems, as

well as teaching them structure and routine (as many come from homes

without any resemblance of organization) so that they will be healthy

and functioning members of society. Additionally, I was responsible

for aiding the children in their educational endeavors. Many of them

are not as advanced as other children their age; I aid them with their

schoolwork, give them additional pedagogical attention when needed,

and develop new learning strategies to best meet their individual

learning styles.

University of Louisville Music Library

Administrative Assistant- While working at the music library, it was

my responsibility to accurately re-file books, use the computer system

to discharge materials to students, patrons, and faculty, perform

other computer tasks, answer the phone, and deal one-on-one with any

clients who had questions or needed assistance.

R & S Pharma., Inc.

Administrative Assistant- In this position, I performed odds-and-ends

jobs for my superiors. Primarily, this involved computer skills, as I

electronically combined and integrated data from other companies into

the company's electronic database using Microsoft products.

TM Computer

Receptionist- At TM Computer, I served as an assistant receptionist

where I performed such tasks as answering phones, filing, preparing

and mailing company information, and other various tasks assigned by

the company manager/owner.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE

Loucon Camp/Retreat Center

Summer Counselor- I was a volunteer counselor for girls, grades 6-8,

for two years. While in this position, it was my responsibility to

oversee the well being of the girls, get them to all scheduled

activities on time, coordinate and arrange group meetings and

discussion settings, for which I was in charge, and handle any

questions/personal stories/etc., and give proper advice, guidance, and

direction.

Happy Valley Elementary School

"Big Sister"- Although not technically associated with the Big

Brothers/Big Sisters program, I served in a very similar capacity. Twice a

week, I would visit a kindergarten girl in her classroom. While there, I

played with her, participated in classroom activities, socialized with her

peers, and served as a positive role model. It was the goal of the program

to help the child connect and make friends with an older individual,

hopefully aiding her in becoming more confident, independent, and happy on

her own.
