Academic Projects And Employment
Master of Engineering Project -Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
04/ 2010 - 08/2010
Performed theoretical hand calculations and analyzed them using ANSYS software to
determine the fatigue life of each material and the model.
Explored new methods to improve the fatigue life of the model.
Master of Engineering Project - Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
02/ 2010 - 04/2010
Main purpose of this project is designing and optimizing a novel piezoelectric
power harvester device to operate at atmospheric wind speeds.
Performed wind tunnel testing on the device to determine the optimum conditions
for power generation.
Constructed NACA 0012 airfoil profile by using sanding machine in the lab.
Feedback Control Systems Lab - Cornell University, Ithaca, NY
Fall 2009
Performed water tank experiment to obtain required water displacement by using
three different controllers (Proportional, PI and PID). Experimental results were
compared with theoretical results predicted from closed loop transfer function.
Experimental and theoretical results were analyzed by using MATLAB software and
written technical documents were prepared based on both analyses.
Machine Design Lab- University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI
Winter 2009
Mechanical properties of the metals and polymers such as fracture toughness,
ultimate tensile strength, and yield strength were determined by using tensile
testing machines, measurement devices and computer-data acquisition systems.
Experimental results were analyzed by using MATLAB and Microsoft Excel software
and written technical documents were prepared based on the experimental analysis.
Senior Design Project - University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI
Fall 2008
Designed and built a dynamic-growth control system for the automated fabrication
of carbon nanotubes and nanowires.
Performed material selection of the system using CES Software.
Helped the group in manufacturing of the prototype.
Mechanical Engineering Intern - ARCELIK A.S., Istanbul, Turkey
Summer 2007
Performed fatigue testing on washing machines by using Instron Machines
Assisted the design team in reducing energy consumption for washing machines
Performed data analysis using MATLAB
Design and Manufacturing Project- University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI
Winter 2007
Designed a flipping CD Case by using drilling, milling and lathing tools of CAM.
Used CNC Machine which is automated using CAM model of the system to manufacture
the prototype.
