EMPLOYMENT AND SELF-EMPLOYMENT
Various short-term positions in Maryland
March 2002 - July 2005
During this time, I explored various fields.
I gardened as an internship of sorts on private estates alongside one with years of
experience.
At the same time, I worked at a garden center and on my own for a client of my own.
Before private estates, I barbacked (keeping beverages in the front and side
refrigerator stocked and cold as well as dishes washed and stacked) at a seafood
restaurant which helped to support me as a second job while working for an organic
microgreen and herb farmer where I weeded, planted, turned compost, laid soil in many
(about 200) flats a few times per week, seeded the flats, watered the greenhouse
plants twice daily, and harvested microgreens and edible flowers--both were used in
salads or as garnishes for meals at high end restaurants).
Later on, I worked in the kitchen of a fine dining Indian restaurant-Heritage
India-as a prep cook. I also shopped and cooked for a family, largely from a book
called Vegetarian Planet (though none of us was vegetarian).
I also provided administrative help to a small construction company.
