Alton Bank
December 2008-Present
Duties: I currently work as a full time bookkeeper. As a bookkeeper I
perform maintenance on accounts and proof all the work done by tellers.
While proofing I have to use a computer program that images the work and
makes sure it balances. I also create spreadsheets and develop new reports
for our board members. Another one of my duties include inputting data
from new loans into a register and creating a film of them. I also answer
the phones and answer customer questions. Before becoming a bookkeeper I
worked as a teller. As a teller my duties included handling money, customer
service, and record keeping. I had to make sure I recorded every
transaction performed that day so that I gave my customer the correct
change and balanced my window and the end of the day. I also served as the
co-chair of our fundraising committee. This position allowed me to work
very closely with the community and ensure scholarships for the future
generations of Alton High School. In order to have a successful fund raiser
we had to keep records of orders and accounts received and accounts
payable.
Oregon County Soil and Water Conservation District
July 2008 - December 2008
Duties: As the Information Education Specialist, I was responsible for
presenting educational presentations at the area schools to promote the
conservation of soil and water. I was also in charge of setting up a
practice test for the area grassland contest teams. In order to make the
contest a success I had to obtain donations from the area businesses. I
also had to contact and work with the area schools to ensure the students
received the most up to date information.
Williams Farms LLC, Doniphan MO
2004- 2008
Duties: As a full-time office assistant, I handled accounts receivable and
helped with the day to day office duties, which included answering the
phone, sending and receiving faxes and researching loads on the internet. I
kept records of each driver's expenses and income and I invoiced all of
their loads. I also kept a record of the driver's mileage and fuel expenses
so that I could file IFTA every quarter. I developed spreadsheets designed
specifically for trucking companies. My spreadsheets allowed us to easily
keep track of each truck and its maintenance. They also allowed us to
professionally keep track of invoices sent and received. I also made sure
the driver files were updated. In order to do this I had to record and
evaluate the driver violations and make sure the drivers had the proper
qualifications. In addition to my daily duties I did the company income
taxes each year. I keep records of the income and expenses and prepared a
report for the CPA.
